About Me

CURRENT MISSION

make as long a list as i can of countries i have visited in these 12 months

ABOUT ME

I'm a quiet but adventurous guy,
travelling europe until december with my best friend from college. we dont have much money, but we have quite a lot of character and are looking to experience anything other than the boredom of doing the same thing every day in the country we have spent our whole lives

PHILOSOPHY

i imagine a lot of moments in my life to be like the moment you're trying to pluck the courage to jump into an icy lake. there's a moment when you take the leap, when you have to lean forward a certain amount and then you're in whether you change your mind or not. whenever i find myself in a moment like that, I always jump.

Music, Movies, and Books

i love most music, and play drums and guitar. Depending on my mood, i listen to reggae, bob marley and all his kids (stephen, damien and ziggy are the best). if im a bit more excited ill listen to drum and bass or dubstep, or if im feeling really musical ill put on some intense stuff like rodrigo y gabriella or tommy emmanuel, all insane guitarists, or maybe even a bit of beethoven - although that mood's quite rare. deep down im a 60s and 70s rock lover. the who, the beatles, the stones, kenny rogers, and of course jimi, all send me into musical ecstasy.

I read quite a lot, my favourite books are "for whom the bell tolls" by hemmingway, which can break your heart, and "lolita" by vladmir nabokov, so well written that the author can just play with how you think and feel. the conspiracy theorist within me loves dystopian literature like "1984", "a brave new world", and "the handmaids tale", because i imagine things will end up at least a bit like that.

movies is hard.... firstly i dont think i ever grew out of disney films. I still love the jungle book, the lion king, that kind of stuff. but movies arent always about pure entertainment, and i appreciate compelling plots or artful direction. "requiem for a dream", for example, is a film you wont enjoy watching but that you'll remember for the rest of your life. Blow, a film with johnny depp, is pretty cool, and although everyone says the same, heath ledger is a ridiculous actor. when i watch him playing the joker i cant even believe its him, and i think its a testament to how immersed he was in the role that it actually killed him. i mean, shit me!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

the sunsets and stars in madagascar are pretty good, but surprisingly st. tropez, france, holds the trophy for hands down best sunset ever.
