About Me

I have a beautiful log home at a private lake that I use sometimes on weekends. Otherwise, it is empty. The house is brand new. There is a canoe, peddleboat, and rowboat for you to use. The area offers great hunting, fishing, hiking and much more. A little about me - I grew up in Northeastern Pennsylvania (NEPA) near the Pocono Mountains in a small town called Parsons. As like most members of Couchsurfing, I LOVE to travel. So much so that at age 21, I joined the Seafarers International Union, (SIU) and became a Merchant Marine. Employed by American Hawaiian Cruises, my first shipboard position was aboard the SS Constitution, a cruise ship that sailed around the Hawaiian Islands. For two decades, that experience provided me with the opportunity to engage with many people from all around the world and that fueled my desire to travel even more. While home on vacation in 1991, I met the love of my life, Linda, who I later married and talked into working for the cruise line. In 2002, we returned to NEPA and I opened my own business, PC Doctors, (PCDoctorsinc.com) which I continue to operate. Our dream is to own a 45 foot catamaran and offer guided private tours around the Hawaiian Islands.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing to hopefully meet new and interesting people that would like to visit the Pocono area, would like to have a beautiful place to stay, and want to share their time, knowledge, and friendship that will enhance their travels. And, perhaps, would like to reciprocate the same.

Interests

I grew up skiing the Pocono Mountains and have conquered most of the resorts on the east coast. Eventually, I converted to snowboarding and never looked back. My friends and I have taken several extended trips to Colorado and have boarded most of the state. When all the snow has melted, I am a water-man at heart. I enjoy doing anything in and around water. Swimming, floating, sailing, canoeing, and diving into it from high places, to name just a few. While living in Hawaii, I learned how to Scuba Dive and have since become a certified Dive Master. Now, my passion and what I live for is bodysurfing, I love the big waves of Sandy's Beach and Waimea Bay on the North Shore of Oahu, HI. When I'm away from the waves, I enjoy hiking, camping, and relaxing next to a camp fire while listening to good music, drinking beers, and conversations with friends. More recently, 2010, I bought a Harley Davidson Heritage Soft-tail motorcycle. Now I love to ride cross country sightseeing, camp at national parks, and get lost. That is now my form of adventure travel.

Music, Movies, and Books

My all time favorite groups are Pink Floyd, U2, and Queen but, I like a wide variety of music. I really enjoy listening to a musician with a raspy voice singing and playing an acoustic guitar.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went fishing one morning when I was 12 years old and caught a free 2 hour helicopter tour over a flood zone. No joke! Hurricane Agnes flooded Wyoming Valley in 1972.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to connect to the internet, how to build a campfire, how to ride a canoe upside-down, and how to make a excellent Margarita. I would like to learn about my future and how it will be enhanced by getting to know you. I will share my sunny disposition, time, friends, local knowledge, and accommodations with you. If you happen to be hanging around rather than passing through, I have a couple quads, i could take you on a tour. I have a log cabin at a private lake that you could use for sleeping, cooking, showing, swimming, fishing, boating hiking, camping, hunting, and relaxing. My house is only a 2 hour drive to NYC, 1.5 hour drive to Philly, or a 4 hour drive to Washington DC. It is also less than a 30 minute drive to 4 different ski areas in the Poconos or a 20 minute ride to white water rafting.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will share my time, beer, knowledge and anything else I have except my wife.
