About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to give whatever I can to make people of other cultures, countries, ages, and backgrounds comfortable in visiting my little corner of the world as I would like to feel if I was to visit them

ABOUT ME

A good friend, kind, generous with his time and energy, honest, always on the go. Former President and long time member of Cat Action Team ( http://www.cats-pei.ca ) which is an all volunteer, charitable organization which performs the main function of operating a TNR (trap neuter and release) program for feral, stray, and barn cats province wide on PEI. In 10 years we have spayed or neutered about 10,000 cats on PEI and care for about 1000 colonies of cats.

PHILOSOPHY

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I rent a room i use for my guests as well as one for myself and that makes up the top floor of a rooming house. I also have a double air mattress and a single air mattress we can use in a pinch. The room has a very comfortable double bed. My room is located in down town Charlottetown which means only about a 15 walk to the heart of town. I do have a car and will give tours around the province to visitors during my stretches off work (I work 12 hour shifts as a Nursing Assistant and therefore often have a few days off at a time). I am also an amateur videographer and will help you make a memorable video of your visit.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted and showed my province to a wonderful soul (YogiNi_Dom Mok) who introduced me to the network of CouchSurfers. Our mutual love, care and support of feral and stray cats has lead to a wonderful friendship and a another "newby" in the CouchSurfing community. I produced a short video of our tour and you may watch it here...http://youtu.be/dEL0Jk8TnWU very memorable moments of my first CouchSurfing experience were... Singing Kareoke with Dominique at The Charlottetown Legion, having the freshest fish and chips in the world sitting on a balcony in North Rustico enjoying the most amazing sunset, enjoying a night out at Hunter's Alehouse watching the amazing talent of PEI's Tim Chaisson and The Morning Fold, standing in the dark on Panmure Island Beach in the pouring rain just taking in the fresh sea air and not caring about the waves engulfing my feet to the ankles even with my shoes on and relaxing with friends at the end of our brief visit but start of a new friendship. I have also now given a tour to 2 new CouchSurfing friends from Japan, Yuri and Rikako, who toured Green Gables House and The PEI National Park with me on November 21. I made a video of our adventures and you can see it here http://youtu.be/S7cnlQXbjGU hope you enjoy. Most recently I hosted Shueny and her friend Yuri (not the same Yuri as my other hosting) and they stayed only one night and a day. I gave them a quick tour of Green Gables and the Prince Edward Island National Park and then they enjoyed a lobster dinner treat before leaving to drive all night to Toronto, Ontario. Here is a video of them eating the lobsters, please don't take this as a "How to eat a Lobster" video... http://youtu.be/Ieqh7Wv1Gvs. I next hosted John Lindberg from Sweden who spent 2 nights and went out to Hunter's Alehouse one night and Gahan House Pub, as well as, touring the North Shore of PEI (Green Gables and The PEI National Park. I next hosted a group of 5 students from Ontario, who drove through a major winter storm to spend one night here. They enjoyed their night and went out to Hunter's Alehouse for Sunday Night Name That Tune Music Trivia. Unfortunately I had to work and could not join them. The next day we braved the continued winter storm to at least see the PEI National Park... http://youtu.be/nlYGQNXmrs8 before they left to brave the storm again to get to their next destination in Halifax. This is my latest video of Martina Vanatova enjoying a tour of The P.E.I. National Park http://youtu.be/MwIihRGGxY8 unfortunately since I used some music in it that was copywriten it won't play some places.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music I am into almost anything but mostly classic rock, hip hop, Top 40, and Indie. Movies anything goes depending on my mood at the moment. Books well I live in Prince Edward Island so I have read "Anne of Green Gables" and have to admit I do love L. M. Montgomery's style and having worked at the setting for the book I know that book very very well. I also have an interest in reading books on reflexology and massage therapy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This Winter I visited Holguin, Cuba and spent 2 weeks snorkeling, touring and enjoying the hot tropical weather in the middle of the worst winter here in my memory. http://youtu.be/5YnN9e_uzv4

Touring the Mountains around Banff.

Beautiful beach sunsets on my Prince Edward Island

U2 360 Concert in Moncton.

Cycling the beautiful Confederation Trail from tip to tip on my PEI

Every evening in my hometown of Charlottetown crows flock together in a murder (large flock of crows) at Victoria Park by the tens of thousands. It is an awesome sight and an overpowering sound as the settle down to roost for the night and every evening just as the sun sets you can look anywhere in the sky from miles and miles around and see the crows flying there for the party. I have tried to photograph or video it but it is too dark and the flash of the camera scares them I to a frenzy.

Teach, Learn, Share

Live each day like it is your last. Learn from your past but do not regret, live in the present, and do not fret the future. Life is a journey not a destination. I am learning about reflexology and massage therapy for relaxation and enjoy the chance to practice skills whenever someone needs a relaxing foot, hand or shoulder massage.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my love and knowledge of my tiny little part of the world. Yes, I do know quite a bit about "Anne of Green Gables" having work 2 summers as a guide in the "House". I usually give tours if my and your time allows. And, of course, our famous, famous Island hospitality.
