About Me

Hey :D

I am currently working on two master's degrees at the same time at the Freie Universität in Berlin in both English and modern German literature. I would like to continue into a doctorate degree with a focus on empathy processes in literature. I really enjoy reading, if you couldn't tell already, and I also enjoy writing my own stories, although I am not nearly as good as the ones I read :p

I enjoy travelling and learning more about the cultures and customs in different places around the world. When I was a child, my mother sent me to an international school in Spain, which other than the occasional family trip to Mexico and Canada, was the first time I had been abroad. It changed me drastically and leaving Europe to go back to the regular American school system never seemed as interesting as the year I had spent in Europe. I worked on my university degree while traveling to England, France, Japan, the Netherlands and Germany.

During my time at the University of Kassel, I decided that I wanted to stay in Germany because of the people and culture. I took the C2 test in German at the Goethe Institute in Schwäbisch Hall and passed, which meant that I could study modern German literature in Berlin. I had studied literary theory back at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, so I have recently added English literature to my German literature master's degree.

I have been living in Berlin since September 2017 and have made a ton of new international friends. I feel like the city, although charmingly dirty, is something special that people rarely see. It's common for people to ask others where they come from because the answer is alway different. There are a few rare Urberliners that pop up now and then, but you're more likely to find a shiny pokemon more often than finding an Urberliner.

I'd love to continue exploring new countries in Europe while also meeting people from across the world :) Come stay in Berlin sometime~

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I would like to meet new people and learn about new cultures. I think it would also be cool to go to different countries not only to see different things around the city and to get a small taste of the culture, but also to learn their languages :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would love to go to different countries and share different travelling experiences or just hang out and talk. I feel like everyone has their own personal story that they can share with others, which is really interesting to hear about. I would also like to meet friends around the world, who can either come and see me in Berlin or we could even travel somewhere together :)
