CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME
I quit my day job for a new, more rewarding life as a research student. It just seems like the right thing to do!
I'm optimistic, ambitious, curious, creative, interested in people and things, I like to talk, think, listen, cook, eat, drink & share, I love music, dancing, literature, new friends, elegant sports, laughter and random acts of generosity. And having lots of people over for dinner!
My research takes me all over the world, and I have interviewed lots of fabulous scientists including astronauts, oceanographers, authors and TV stars.
I am engaged to a lovely fella, who makes me smile.
I am disappointed to find that there are nowhere near enough years in life to do, see and be absolutely everything I want, but determined to have a go, anyway.
PHILOSOPHY
Dream the impossible! Think the implausible! Then, find a way to make some of it happen.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Experimenting with surfing, right now, and if that works out, well...
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've now surfed in a few places including Tallahassee, Boston, Laguna Beach, and Phoenix. My faith in other human beans has been completely revitalised by the experience...I love it!

Music, Movies, and Books
A generalist...I can't bring myself to be limited to just a few genres... Movies - I like action! Adventure! thrillers! arthouse. And funny, dark films about strange and enlightening things. Scifi. Animation! Short experimental films. Music - I like jazz (in late night smoky bars, if possible), funk, rock, pop, folk, classical, electro-pop-synth-trash and people singing beautiful harmonies. Books - I like books too much, it's like a disease, I read something beautiful and can't let go! please come to my house and take some away.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once was knocked out, while sumo wrestling, which taught me a lot about physics and not biting off more than I can chew.
I've watched a wild family of badgers come out at dusk, in an English forest. They're very cool, like big hairy orangutan-puppies.
I once encouraged a million kids to jump up and down at the same time, in the name of science... And they did it, and set a new world record! You can look it up. Awesome.
I invented a new cocktail. Which is not that amazing, but it was a lot of fun, from what I can remember.
I was there for the creation of the 5 Pound/10 Dollar Meal Challenge - where you must create a tasty, 3 course meal for 4 people, for just $10.
Teach, Learn, Share
Lots of things, mostly small simple things of the sort people can do every day but don't celebrate much.
I can make some simple, delicious food for my hosts/guests, like garlic roasted chicken, a Thai curry, spicy mussels and poached pears...
At home, I like to grow things in pots, and might have some gardening tips to swap.
I'd like to be a lot better at the guitar, and painting, and French, and German, and Spanish, and Italian (I don't speak all of those, yet, but I'd like to some day).
