We're Bob and Sarah, and just moved to Banbury (close to Oxford) after returning from the most amazing 15 months of travelling and couchsurfing around the world a few years ago!

After running low on money we had to come back to the UK for work, so we're now settled in the beautiful Oxfordshire. We're really close to Oxford, the Costwolds and London. There's really good transport links across the country.

We met about 10 years ago in college (in Essex where we both grew up) and have been together for 5 years. Bob studied Ancient History and Sarah studied Spanish.

We're really passionate about travelling and love learning anything we can from other people.

Meeting locals always gives you a far better idea of what a city is really about and couchsurfing is the ideal way to meet locals.

Honestly, CS saved us on more than 1 occasion whilst travelling. We couldnt have got as far without it and are forever grateful for the help we received. We stayed with 50 awesome CSers and look forward to meeting more! We would love to be able to pay back the amazing generosity we were given whilst travelling. Its amazing the welcome that we've had from people, we hope to pay it forward as much as we can by hosting now. We've also made some great friends through this site

We both love a nice quiet pub with a pint, a few friends and a great conversation.

We don't need to be doing stuff all the time, and are just as happy to do a hike as we are to sit in a cafe with good wifi/playing Uno. We're slowly building up our board game collection so let us know if you have any suggestions for good games.

In terms of exercise Bob has started doing climbing, and Sarah likes the gym!

We love cooking and sharing food with others so expect a lot of food! Bob is definitely the chef but Sarah likes to try too!

Discovering new food was one of the best parts of our trip! We have a recipe book that we're adding to all the time.

Bob -- I enjoy bands like Alt-J, Milky Chance and Muse. I love comics, like DC and Marvel (films and the comics). Anything sci-fi related is perfect for me. Some of my favourite film directors are Quentin Tarantino, Wes Anderson and Christopher Nolan.

Sarah -- I love my US sitcoms and British comedy. Being a Latin American graduate I'm also really into films and books from that part of the world (Motorcycle Diaries, House of the Spirits, anything by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Mario Vargas Llosa to name a few). I can't live without my music and always have something playing on Spotify.

We both also love: Game of Thrones, Arrested Development, Community, Green Wing, Black Mirror, Luther, Friends, Sherlock, The Office, Narcos, Stranger Things, The OA...

In short we watch lots of TV/Films and are always looking for new things to binge watch.

Bob: I've seen the Pacific ocean from both sides. Looking westward from the Peruvian coast and looking eastward from the Japanese coast. Perhaps not the most amazing feat but I find the implications of this to be cool.

Sarah: Living in Peru for a year was pretty amazing, the people were incredible and I did some cool things (including spending a night with a family in the jungle)

We joined CS to meet new people, and learn new things about people from all over the world.

Food is a massive part of our lives - so we will cook for you! (If we have the time). Sarah is big into breakfasts and baking, and Bob cooks a mean dinner. We love coming home and cooking together; even if we work late we'll always try to cook together in the evenings.

We don't know much about teaching, but if you want to learn English we're always happy to help! Bob is half German and Sarah speaks Spanish.

We both work during the week but if we have time we can show you some of the beautiful parts of England, take you to some classic pubs, and share some conversation. We can also give advice about other parts of the UK, as between us we've lived in Suffolk, Essex, Cardiff and Liverpool, Swindon (and now Banbury), so have a bit of general knowledge about those parts of the UK.

We covered a fair part of the world (as much as we could) on our travels, so love to talk and give advice about the places we did visit.

Like food, travelling is very important to us and we can't imagine life without travelling and exploring new places.
