About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live courageously

ABOUT ME

Hi there....

I'm lucky enough to have two jobs which I enjoy. I do conservation work with Whales and Dolphins, and I'm a freelance Photographer too. Working at sea has allowed me to travel pretty extensively over the years, often to places few people get to see (Being way up in the Arctic circle, all around Africa, and Western Australia have been my favourites). I'm an adventurous dreamer so I've really loved that part of my work.

My other interests include: snowboarding, hiking (Ive walked some Caminos in France and Spain and hope to do more next spring), mountain biking, camping, writing and reading (Ive got so many interests and read pretty diversely). Lately I have also been getting quite into Vipassana meditation and more into yoga too....

PHILOSOPHY

I've recently decided to live a simpler life. To me that means keeping my goals firmly in mind, and to make the most of my time. Must have something to do with getting a bit older :)

I'm really drawn to adventure, to feeling, and connection with good souls. There's a philosophy in there somewhere!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think Couchsurfing is a great idea. I registered years ago but I've still to make the most of it. I've been lucky to meet some incredible people as Ive travelled. So many great people, and this is another way to do that. So here goes!

I'm doing a ten day Vipassana meditation course from 9th-20th Jan 2018, near Hereford, and wanted to have a couple of days in London after that. I thought it could be nice to meet someone living there instead of just getting a room in a hostel. So I'm hoping to meet people who have similar interests, are open and don't mind that I might meditate for a wee while in the morning and evenings :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Ive read lots of Kerouac, and find myself drawn to American literature in general. Just read something by Patti smith, now I'm reading some Raymond Chandler.

I especially Love films by Jim Jarmusch

Music: Philip Glass, Beirut, Cinematic orchestra, Joanna Newsom, Nick Drake, Arcade fire, LCD soundsystem, Belle and Sebastian, Francis Bebey and plenty of other West African musicians are also favourites....

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Was rescued at sea (With six other idiots) in a storm near the north pole, almost died! Almost got eaten by a Tiger shark off Western Australia, almost died again!

Teach, Learn, Share

I really enjoy teaching others. I'm a good photographer so thats definitely fun to teach. I used to know a bit of Shiatsu but I'm way out of practise, it actually hurts my back to practise it for too long, but could give it a go. Ive also got a few stories from so many years at sea too I suppose...
