About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet amazing people, and remind them how awesome they are

ABOUT ME

There are too many things to see in this world in one lifetime, but I might as well try!
I'm friendly, fun, polite, adventurous, occasionally hilarious, and a terrible cook.
There are so many wonderful and inspiring people in the world, and they come in all sorts of interesting packages; I hope to meet as many of them as I can. I love to skateboard/longboard, ride my motorbike, listen to and learn about the music other people love, and throw myself into situations I've never experienced before. I enjoy being spontaneous and having fun. I'm hoping to meet people with a strong personality that can show me something unique about their city.

PHILOSOPHY

Love as many people as you can, and whatever you feel is beautiful. Remind people as often as you can how awesome they are. Try and make the most of the choices you make, and experience new things every day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been pretty actively hosting since I began couchsurfing, 3 or 4 every month. I live in a house with two other people who both use couchsurfing and we enjoy hosting regularly. I also try and spread the word about the awesomeness of couchsurfers to those I think might benefit; from either a fresh look at travelling, or as an experience that reminds us how easy and rewarding is to help others and share what we can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing immediately opened me up to amazing new people and experiences. I love couchsurfing and don't know how I travelled before I found this! It's an amazing way to get a completely "local" experience of a city that would be a challenge any other way. I also met most of my closest friends through Couchsurfing, one of my housemates, AND so many wonderful people that simply joined my life for a few days.

Interests

Skateboarding/longboarding, music (in many forms and genres), making people feel awesome, playing guitar, bartending, motorcycling, diving into awkward situations and making them work, tasting new and interesting beers around the world...

...and travelling!

Music, Movies, and Books

Trip-Hop and ambient electronic music: Things like DJ Shadow, Datassette, Boards of Canada (hence the name BOCfan)
A whole host of other music like: The Tallest Man on Earth, NIN, Goldfrapp, Daft Punk, Charles Mingus, John Coltrane, Jeff Buckley.

Movies like: Goonies, Up in the Air, anything that makes me laugh.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching a sunset over Reykjavik from Mt. Esja. during Winter.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to think that the things we can offer each other are unique and unknown until we finally meet. And yet I find that I seem to teach a lot of people how to skateboard.

I've made a habit of teaching people all the interesting things about Australia that most people don't know. Some of it's true, most of it is not.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, United States
