About Me

CURRENT MISSION

taking care of the ones I love, and for the friends that are yet to come :-)

ABOUT ME

Born in Marke, living for 25 years now in Bruges. Single since last year and mother of two amazing children (Thomas, 20 and Anaïs, 18).
I'm addicted to the books I sell and that's exactly the reason why I wanted this store :-)
I love to live in Bruges and I never get bored here.
CS was new for me, that means, in this formula, because my house always has been an open house and lots of people have been sleeping on our couch or on mattresses on the floor :-) This summer we had some guests and it was great!

PHILOSOPHY

There is no meaning of live whatsoever so we have to make it worth while our selves! Every day should be the last one and the best one. I don't want to regret anything, I want to live every one of them :-)

Don't worry, we'll see what comes next, if we like it or not. There's is plenty of time to worry when the problem is actually there!

Spring always be there!!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Music, Movies, and Books

Books : Harry Mulish, John Irving, Stephen King, John Boyne, Diane Gabaldon, Cathy Kelly, Jack Vance, Orson Scot Card, Tolkien, Joanne Harris, Feist, Weis & Hickman, Anna Gavalda, Palliser, Heller and lots and lots more

Music : Alan Parson's, Kate Bush, Marc Cohn, Alison Krauss, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Carole King, Sting, Deep Purple, Prince, Madonna, Arno, Axelle Red, Billy Holliday, The Chieftains, Edie Brickel, Dire Straits, ...... maybe it's easier to tell you what I don't like ;-) House and Dance-Trance music. And that's it I think. I love music that is written for movies, Classical music too, and any music that can move me.

Movies : another difficult one :-) I give you some so you can have an idea of the diversity of my interest : LOTR, all the James Bondmovies, Hitchcock, Harry Potter, the Die Hards, Pride and Prejuidice, Sliding Doors, Serendipity, Forrest Gump, Four weddings and a Funeral, X-men, Gone with the wind, Léon, Amélie, the Monty Pythons.... I saw lot's of European movies when I was younger and I have to admit that I really don't like them as much as I should :-/

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

a couple of years ago we were sitting outside a restaurant in Venice when my children started to dance a Tango. An old man with a harmonica played a tune from 'The Godfather' and they were sooooooooo beautiful.... Lot's off people stopped to see them dancing and they didn't even notice. I thought my heart would burst. When the music stopped people began to clap their hands and cheered. My children didn't know what was happening :-D
That was one of my best days I think....

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach : how easy it is to wonder, the relativity of lots of things that happen, what the strength of positive thinking is. And of course swearing in Dutch and in Brugs ;-)

Learn : to know you ;-)

Share : our culture, our language, our food, our stories...
