Overview
About Me
New to Couchsurfing, but hey, everyone needs to start somewhere!
Grew up between the U.S. Midwest and the sprawling metropolis of Shanghai.
Mandarin Chinese is my first language, but I tend read, think, and dream in English due to my upbringing.
I've always wanted to experience the most diverse array of opportunities in life, and I probably won't turn down any chance to try something new and tick if off my infinitely long bucket list in life. That includes traveling around the world and going to offbeat places most people wouldn't want to or are afraid to go.
I'm very talkative if you want me to be, but I'm also appreciative of you giving me a place to stay and maybe some good recommendations.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Even if I could afford 5-star hotels everywhere I go, I would much rather stay with locals and live in the customs of where I am. It's much better to meet people and take in the smells of the city or village rather than room service.
Interests
I have a passion for technology. I'm sorry but I am an Apple fanboy and I used to use Windows and Android but I've come to the bright side now, but I will respect your non-Apple tastes :)
I'm especially interested in robotics. I did a research opportunity in robotics in Israel when I was in high school and I loved the chance to manipulate intelligent machines and learn about the Middle East.
I love being outdoors, whether just sitting under a tree watching the rain, or playing some intense ultimate frisbee, ping pong, or swimming.
I also love learning languages and I can speak quite some French, a bit of Spanish and then a few phrases in Hebrew and Russian.
Don't worry. I'll probably be interested in whatever you do for fun and I'll tag along to explore.

Music, Movies, and Books
Oh man. Let's think.
My music varies by time and I do listen to some top-charts pop (blame my friends, not me). I am currently loving James Bay, The Script, Pentatonix ( I love a cappella and my most annoying habit is beatboxing), Maroon 5, Metallica, The Weekend, Hoobastank, Two Steps From Hell, Adele, Imagine Dragons, Snow Patrol, and Passenger.
Books: To Kill A MockingBird-Harper Lee, Lone Survivor-Marcus Luttrel, anything from John Steinbeck, In the Garden of Beasts-Erik Larson, Eragon (Inheritance Cycle)-Christopher Paolini, Night Angel Trilogy-Brent Weeks, Fablehaven-Brandon Mull, Steve Jobs-Walter Isaacson, Tom Clancy Stuff.
I also love reading on religions and philosophy although I'm not that educated in these aspects but I would love to talk about them.
Movies:
So many. I won't pick a favorite but some that are stuck in my mind are Fight Club, Lone Survivor, Captain Phillips, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Les Intouchables, Interstellar, The Raid, Begin Again, Up
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think the coolest thing I've done was live in a small southern city in the Israeli desert for 5 weeks working on robots. I've never traveled alone before and that was amazing and I found my own little apartment and just took trips around the tiny country whenever I wanted. The food and culture was amazing too.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you about some programming and robotics if you're interested.
I'll definitely teach you Chinese if you want.
I can try to show you my self-taught and horrible beatboxing.
If you don't know how to ride a bike yet, you have to and I'll be happy to instruct.
I'd love to just learn about your life and cool stories.
Maybe your language or at least some useful phrases.
Sharing a new friendship.
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you want me to bring something special from my city like a refrigerator magnet or map. I can definitely help you grow your collection.
