PHILOSOPHY
My basic philosophy is to commit random acts of kindness. Any good natured, honest and non violent person can be my friend. I don’t care what your race is, body type, income, level of attractiveness, religion, age or sexual orientation. If you are a kind, caring person, I will be your friend. I judge people not by their status in society but by the content of their character.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've hosted two surfers. I stayed with two families in Siberia/Far East Russia in 2008. What fun I had. A great experience.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
The families I stayed with in Eastern Siberia and the far east of Russia were wonderful!
Interests
Outdoor fun! Live music, theater, literature, adventure and cultural travel, throwing parties, cooking dinner for friends, playing my guitar and singing (I’m not that good or else I wouldn’t be an accountant).

Music, Movies, and Books
I love mostly foreign and art films. Cinema Paradiso is my all time favorite movie.
As an amateur musician, I’ve learned to love all kinds of music. Everything from punk to classical. Jazz, reggae, pop, bluegrass, folk, rock are all fun!
I read mostly non fiction and classic, 20th century American fiction. My favorite authors are: Steinbeck, Somerset Maugham, Herman Hess, Jon Krakauer, Frank McCourt, Jack London, Jack Kerouac, Jimmy Carter and Harper Lee. Almost every week I hear of a book on NPR that I want to read and I add it to my reading wish list. (I’ll never get through this list). My favorite non fiction books explore science, personal finance, musicology, history, music theory, travel, intelligent pop culture, ecology, politics, theology, philosophy and art.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I’ve climbed mountains in snow storms, worked on a commercial fishing boat in the Pacific, demonstrated in peace rallies, been to over a dozen countries, performed music on many stages and have made friends all over the world. I’m just getting started. Life is much too interesting to live vicariously by TV. I want to experience life first hand.
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to continue to be a student of life!
