About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To share and enjoy life!

ABOUT ME

I moved to Gainesville about 14 years ago and now looking to relocate to New Mexico.

I have lived 25 years in various countries, including in Africa, Europe and Asia. My perspective is quite open and our house is very peaceful.

I am passionate about the environment and sustainability - including social justice. Most recently I've been learning about natural building, working on farms, generally working with my hands.

I am open to all types of people and paths of life. Interested in hearing stories and sharing food. Love to do many types of activities outdoors.

PHILOSOPHY

I embrace voluntary simplicity, to minimize our consumption-I am vegetarian and try, and fail all the time, to not harm other beings. With all that in mind I like to have fun, think laughing is good medicine and also try to eat fresh and close to home, organic and purchased in small local businesses.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host when I'm not too harried and try to surf as much as possible when I travel. I would rather spend some time with a CSer and get to know someone new and let them introduce me to their city than stay in a hotel.

I don't host anyone who doesn't have a substantial number of references.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All have been positive.

When we travelled through Europe a few summers ago we surfed two couches and had a wonderful experience both times.

A few summers ago we stayed at a families' house in Cilaos, Reunion Island and it was such a bonding, wonderful experience that was very rewarding for all of us.

Interests

Well ... what are my interests -
I really like to be outdoors whether it's hiking, walking, biking, kayaking or just sitting enjoying a nice evening.

I love to travel, of course!

Music, Movies, and Books

Poisonwood Bible; Pillars of the earth; The good mother; The red tent; The far pavilions; The dove keepers; Ahab's wife and many, many more.

I like a lot of different types a music but seem drawn more to intense, mellower music such as Cat Powers; Leonard Cohen; Mercedes Sosa; Edith Piaf; Gurrumul

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A few summers ago I took my daughter Yvette back to where I grew up, on the Island of Reunion, and we backpacked in the mountains as I had done when I was her age. It was an amazing experience and so personal.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think we can just prepare a meal together and enjoy each other's company. Or go out and hear each other's stories! Glorious stories of life.
