Sobre mí

ABOUT ME
I was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, but now I moved to Moscow, where I finished my MA in Linguistics and started to do Ph.D. in the same field. Also, I work as an ESL teacher for kids and young adults. Recently I started learning some basic programming, like R and Python - I really need that for making good linguistic projects, but right now I am extremely shallow in it...

I love traveling and struggle to avoid comfortable, convenient and a bit boring city-breaks with everything booked in favor of amazing hitchhiking and Couchsurfing experiences.

'PHILOSOPHY'
(below is my old text from about 5 years ago, but I still tend to think so)
In a nutshell, I want to be interesting - and live with interest, so I try to watch movies I would find interesting and even love then, read books which are adored by people I like and, of course, travel. And, of crse, - I waste a lot of time in my boring laziness.

Also, I try not to judge (to myself) people around me (unfortunately, mostly unsuccessful). I often understand, that I don't really know people around me. For example, I teach pupils at the school. And once I find the "simpliest" guy, who isn't talkative at all watches not only popcorn movies - as most his mates do - but also enjoys lots of 'classical' films, for example "Shiendler's list". So I try not to judge people by first impressions.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd love to meet new people during my travels - to see new interesting people, to understand the place I'm visiting better and to improve my languages (I study linguistics, and I've started learning several languages, like German, Macedonian, Ukrainian and will take up some others).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed several great couches, really enjoyed it.

Intereses

I'm interested in travelling - and understanding how live people in another countries, cultures, or even another parts of my own country)
I certainly love art - during each of my trips I try to find some interesting collection, and I found a lot of unexpected marvels: like Estonian paintings of 19th century, Hungarian expressionists, or some classical works from Ufizzi gallery. Once I'm in an art museum, I love to stop upon some beautiful thing and stare on it for 10 or 20 minutes))

I love theater and cinema - but now I don't watch much. Russian TV I found out that I really love camping, but I haven't done much of that yet.

Algo increíble que he hecho

One summer I've been to Rome. It's beauty and grandeur really struck me. And then, right away after Rome came to Tiraspol, unrecognized republic of Transnistria. I was a sort of a shock - there is nothing, cell phones do not work - only people full of friendliness, that are forced to live in such circumstances. But the thing is, that then I came to Chisinau - and, after Transnistria, it shocked me nearly as Rome!)) And then I really understood, that comparison is above all.))

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I can tell you some stuff on Linguistics that I study. I can teach you some English and a bit German and Yiddish. Also, I can show how to teach people - but just a bit, my 5-year teaching experience hasn't made me a teaching genious, but, at least, I understand some key points which are important. I really love cooking and I can teach you some Russian, Jewish and Balkan recipes.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

Some charity merchandise which I tend to buy instead of donating money directly. They have excellent design and are a good gift - and, what is more, I feel that I've given some money for good deeds.
