Overview
About Me
A student from Russia, who loves to travel and to explore the world (not really something unique here, heh)
Become a YEAR program finalist and won a year of study in an American university. Right now live in Vermillion, SD, and study at the University of South Dakota.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It is impossible to touch real culture and people while staying in hotels and visiting museums. Encountering locals is one of the most interesting things to do during journeys, because this way one can understand others mentality and way of thinking.
Also, this is the way to meet amazing people from all over the world

Music, Movies, and Books
"The Old Man and the Sea" by Ernest Hemingway is amazing and impossible to describe. It is about way of thinking, life, death, love, and beauty. Simply read it to understand many things in your life.
Music preferences depend on the mood, mainly some alternative, indie and folk bands.
Here is a short list: The Smiths, Phantom planet, Bryan Adams, RHCP, 30 Seconds to Mars, Crystal Fighters, Sunrise Avenue, Green Crow, Bob Marley, The Cranberries, Eddie Vedder, The Animals, The Cardigans, Birchbook, Ed Sheeran, Johnny Cash, Muse, Richard Cheese, Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire, Of Monsters and Man, Jay-Z, London Grammar, Coldplay, Swarms, Sublime, Passenger, The Retuses, Kwabs, The Lumineers, Lera Lynn, Alai Oli and more...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Can't select one, here is three:
Hitchhiked more than 1000 km in 2 days.
Meditated for 10+ hours for 10 days in a row in complete silence (vipassana)
Stayed in Ernest Hemingway house (which is actually a museum) for the night
Teach, Learn, Share
Can tell you stories from my trips, stories about Russia discuss culture and literature. Know Brodsky's poetry by heart and can tell some during evening talks. Also can cook some tasty traditional dishes if you want.
Right now I can't share my couch with you because I don't have a free one, but definitely planning to host people in the future
