About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I figure hosting people in my home will force me to develop better housekeeping habits. I WANT a really clean, cozy house, but it doesn't seem to remain top priority. Hosting guests should force me to be better.

ABOUT ME

I need to write a new profile, but will do so later on. I share my home with my daughter and her 2 children, who are not here all the time. I am transitioning out of what I thought was going to be a rest-on-my life companionship-relationship, but from which my partner has decided to move on from after 4 years. I wasn't in my house full-time during that time, and since I have moved back, I am working on eliminating clutter and making improvements to the living spaces. I am working from home this fall as I nurse myself back to emotional and mental health and stability, rediscovering old interests, exploring new interests, and dusting off stalled projects, and revisiting my approach to engaging in activities I recently had shared with my signification other.

PHILOSOPHY

This is all in turmoil right now. this personal philosophy...yeah - I am not really quite certain at the moment. I believe that if I have something that I don't need and someone else needs it, then I should give it to that person....but sometimes, I am not sure whether I might need it tomorrow, or next winter, so I hesitate to give it away...however, if I share my home, I can give and have at the same time! You can sleep on my couch, or in a bed in my home, and I will still have the couch and the bed when you leave!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have never surfed anyone else's couches. I hope I will get to, but for now, I am willing to host, should the timing and situation be convenient for those seeking a short term place to stay.

I am hoping my couch-surfers will have skills and willingness to help improve the living-spaces in my house, or take on some small yard-work, or help me a little with projects. I do not have an entirely private space to offer right now, and the photos are out of date. They were taken over 10 years ago, before my daughter (now 29 years old) moved in with her children, ages 10 and 6.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted 2 times over 5 years ago; One couple who were in town for a few days exploring the urban farming scene, and 2 male travel partners from Germany. I enjoyed hosting them, and am therefore updating my profile now with greater enthusiasm that I originally had.

Interests

Music, dance, kayaking, canoeing, pickling stuff, and ...learning all about people, places, ideas, things, and languages. machines...engineering....history, anthropology, Science, Water, rivers, EVERYTHING!

Music, Movies, and Books

The classics - all those we were advised or required to read in school, and since I am a rather slow reader, and easily distracted, I don't really read more than one or two complete books a year.
I like folk music, and ...well many varieties of music, really.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I guess it mostly has to do with family and people, and the really great things that just sort of happen because I am in the place I need to be by chance just when I need to be there to meet that person and make a connection that benefits us both.
I traveled Kerela, India with my 21-year-old daughter, and we just explored - nothing pre-planned. It was really fun!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share some knowledge about the area where I live - the history of the people, the geology, the rivers, the food, plant life, etc.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A bed or a couch - the shower...I have a piano (needs tuning), a guitar, a fiddle, a flute, a banjo - guests are welcome to play any of them...oh, even a Balalaika. I actually need to get my flute back from a girl to whom I lent it 6 years ago, and return the balalaika to her dad.

If you arrive by motorcycle, I can make room for it in my garage.
