About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm a first gen. Chinese-Canadian. Snarky. Christian. Wanderer.

I've just finished getting my BA in Political Science and English, so I'm supposedly educated. I have the occasional philosophical rant where my friends' eyes glaze over as I complain and/or mull over political issues/literature. I've had the opportunity to travel to Washington, DC to Europe, more specifically Brussels, Belgium to do a couple internships in my field. Currently, I'm stuck in a cubicle :)

I love to sit down and have a coffee and enjoy a book or conversation with any table buddies at a cafe. I also enjoy wandering around places and find the small food places and markets. I'm a huge foodie and enjoy simple, fresh local cuisine. So..please feed me :D

I also crave the outdoors and am an avid climber. I'm always up for a climb so send me a message if you want to hit up some rock/wall! Wooo

PHILOSOPHY

If God meant for us to take care of only ourselves and our own interests, then we would each live on little islands and only come together once a year to mate. That is clearly not the case.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I first started using CS in Brussels, I was pretty active. Now that I'm in Edmonton (the not so prime destination for wanderers), things have settled down a bit.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've gone a couple of times since I have been in Europe and loved it. You get the real city or wherever you're visiting. And of course, privy to the small, local food places you may not have found otherwise...if your host is willing to part with the information ;)

Interests

I'm a bit of a jock nerd or as one of my friends would say "jerd". Rock climbing is my first love but I have a great affection for biking and swimming..and other sports..maybe I have a bit of ADD when it comes to sports. I love climbing gyms because it doesn't matter where it is in the world...I always meet super chill people there.

Being away from the great outdoors in Canada makes me realize how much I love it and took it for granted. I enjoy hiking and exploring and usually tripping over an outstretched tree root once and a while. Outdoor climbing is AMAZING. As such, I've taken to looking for big parks while I travel. Being surrounded by green and sun is a guaranteed way to uplift my mood; not to mention, some parks have big boulders to goof off on (eg. Central Park). I look just hanging out, maybe reading, enjoying some food on a blanket and if it's at night, watch the stars come out. Nothing is comparable to looking at stars in the outdoors. Absolutely beautiful.

The most Canadian thing about me: I love my hockey. Go Habs go!!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I love animation/cartoons. No shame. My favorites are the Emperor's New Groove (so snarky!!) and Howl's Moving Castle. It's just nice to see something happy on screen as sometimes, I find my field to be a bit depressing. Just makes me happy :)

Books: I grew up with my nose buried in books. I aspire to own a coffeeshop with a bookstore in it. My favorite books though have to be children's books. I love recommending kids books to people, even adults. The imagination these authors have conjured to have their stories jump off the pages is absolutely stellar.).
