About Me

*** CURRENTLY TRAVELLING SO NOT ACCEPTING GUESTS! ***

CURRENT MISSION

Be kind. Everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.

ABOUT ME

I am a child trapped in a man's body. I laugh a lot, smile even more and I love to play.
I am often described as easy-going and an undying optimist but also a sarcastic son of a gun :)

PHILOSOPHY

"True achievement is not impressing others but impressing yourself."

"Love is action."

Sometimes it's better to light a flamethrower than curse the darkness.
~ (Terry Pratchett, Men At Arms)

"You can't really turn the other cheek, if you don't have one."
~John Eldredge

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host more than travel, but I've done both ;)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

See comments section :) All my experience from CS is positive so far.

Interests

Music - I rarely go a day without music

Sports - I'm not good at being still for too long, so I have spent my whole life doing some kind of sport. A few years ago I probably landed on my favourite one - beach volleyball.

Reading - there's nothing like holding a good book in your hands that just won't let you set it down.

Acro Yoga - I started about 5 years ago. I'm an experienced base now and I am happy to base and/or teach anyone that's interested.

Computer games - From some points of view a waste of time, from my point of view a great source of entertainment, self-improvement and a valuable place to go when you wish to rest your mind - a sanctuary, a playground and a school. However, I play rather rarely the older I get.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
Music is the strongest constant in my life. 12 years ago I started a folk-rock band, playing Irish music and it's been a ride ever since. We don't tour the world and mostly just play locally, but every concert is a blast.

I play a variety of musical instruments and always yearn to learn more. Most prominent are guitar, cajon, flute. I am also liable to burst into song at any random moment.

Movies:
Not a movie freak but I've seen my share of movies, and will enjoy discussing them at any point in time.
My favourites vary a lot across genres, so actually listing any of them will likely paint the wrong picture. Just ask me :)

Books:
I've loved reading every since I could read. My bookshelves are stuffed and I'm one of those people that buys books much faster them he can read them. But read them I do.

Currently on:
Richard Dawkins - The Blind Watchmaker
David Deutsch - The Beginning of Infinity
Stephen King- Dark Tower, Book IV - Wizard and Glass

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There have been some, definitely, like playing a song for a girl in front of 300-400 people, or the summer of 2012, when I walked the Camino de Santiago all the way to the end of the world, Finisterre (1000 km) :)

People do amazing things every day. Courage, honesty and kindness being one of the hardest ones - the more amazing they are when they happen :)

Teach, Learn, Share

As mentioned, I can sing and play a few musical instruments. I am happy to partake in a musical jam and/or give some basic lessons.

I love sports and enjoy playing most of them (even those I have never done before). I train very actively (6-7 trainings times per week).

I am and experience base in Acro Yoga. I am happy to teach or simply exercise with anyone willing :)

I am an experienced practitioner of traditional (water-only) fast. I have done 1,3,5,7 and 15-day fasts and consider it the best way of healing the body and strengthening the mind.

I'm not a world class cook, but I can cook well if given space and some eager mouths :)

I enjoy alcohol. Big fan of beer (like tasting it wherever I go). I've also grown very fond of whisky, especially Scotch (Islay is my favourite region).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I always bring a sizeable and fresh dose of optimism and upbeat energy to share with anyone with an open heart. What can I say, I make it myself :)

I am happy to cook for my hosts, although my skills mostly revolve around easy-to-cook, healthy meals rather than world-class specialties. I might not blow your lid off with some kind of oriental specialty, but I can cook with love :)

Given a guitar and attention, I can play for an audience for and extended amount of time. You have been warned.
