ABOUT ME

Passionate about what I do and it makes for a pretty great life. These days I'm obsessed with comedy in all forms, stand up, improv and sketch. I came from a big family, love them lots and enjoy spending time with the people in my life. Also my real name is Brandon. I made this profile when going through a phase where I was travelling and introducing myself as Oak. Clearly, life has been good :)

PHILOSOPHY

I like to live my life in cycles. I don't like to let things stagnate in my life so when I'm tired of a place, job, or lifestyle I move on to something I find more interesting. A lot gets lost this way but the really important things have a habit of reappearing.

Surfing, hosting, generally being a cool guy.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfed the United States in 2010 and loved it to death. Easily the funnest way to travel and meet new friends. Also hosted for a bit in Calgary and met some very cool people, as tends to happen on this site.

Quite obsessed with performing at the moment. I also like comic books, regular books, video games, exploring and experiencing.

Música, películas y libros

It takes me forever to watch things but I really enjoyed Breaking Bad, Battlestar Galactica, sci fi in general, superhero movies and whatever entertainment crack Netflix sends my way.

With books I really like sci fi stuff like Isaac Asimov and Neal Stephenson, Neal Gaimen, anything comedy related and recently got into hippie lit like Noam Chomsky and Hunter S Thompson. As far as music I currently listen to a lot of New Pornographers, Bear Hands, Pixies, Musical Soundtracks, Kanye West, Joan Jett, Weird Al and Beatles.

Biked across the American prairies with the coolest person in the world! Three weeks of pedaling to get back home to Canada. Camping every night and busting my hump all day. Perfection :)

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I'm a part-time farmer so I'm pretty handy with tools. Also skilled at guitar, cooking and I can cover most high school math and science. I also know about a million, billion improv games if you're a drama dork.

Focusing on comedy at the moment so that's what I'm learning. I'm kind of an expert when it comes to the Canadian comedy scene so I've got a bunch of tremendously funny people to show you that you haven't heard of yet.
