About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Doing what I love while at work and at play!

ABOUT ME

I'm an avid gardener and I keep laying hens in the backyard. I play American old time music on fiddle, guitar and banjo with friends. I bopped around in various adventures after college, but eventually put some roots down in the city I grew up in. That's where I am now.

PHILOSOPHY

Nothing is sacred. Everything is sacred.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new to Couch Surfing. I'm interested in doing some couch surfing for some future travels, and figured it'd be fun to host some passers-by as my couch is comfy and I enjoy meeting other adventurous and freindly people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

After hearing about some amazing experiences from friends and family who've used this site, I decided to join. I'll update this as I get some experiences of my own.

Interests

traditional music and dance from many cultures, square dancing, vegetable gardening, organic farming, working with children, biking around the Twin Cities, playing music with friends in community, mindfulness meditation

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a big fan of the Coen Brothers and Quentin Tarantino. I've been into peak oil documentaries lately. "Collapse" and "Blind Spot" are recent ones I've enjoyed.

I love getting out to see live shows around the Twin Cities. I'm mostly into folky roots music, but there are a lot of other types of music to appreciate in this musically rich city.

I love anything by Tom Robbins and have read all his stuff. John Steinbeck, Barbara Kingsolver and Sharon Salzburg are some other favorites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a summer out of college working as a wildland firefighter in the western United States. It was amazing to be out walking the earth as it was literally burning all around me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could tell you all about: Appalachian old time music and flatfooting. Urban veggie gardening (in season). Urban chicken raising (year round).

I would love to experience: traditional music and dance from the culture I am visiting. Other folk arts and history. A local's guidance in a new city or countryside.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Colombia, France, Latvia, Venezuela

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
