About Me
Went to university for a very, very long time. When I finally managed to graduate, I had my first job for two and a half years before I decided to quit and go travelling. This ended up becoming a two year trip through all of North and South America. After I came back to Sweden, I have was working on starting my own company around an idea I've had for quite a while about making biofuels for cars from plant based materials. After two years of research and experimentation, this project is currently on hold as of Jan 2016. It's not that it isn't working, it's just that no one would want to pay €2.50 per litre of fuel for their car. So I moved on to new adventures. In April 2016 I went to the Democratic Republic of the Congo with Doctors Without Borders as a Technical Logistician. One year later I came back to Sweden after 10 months of work and 2 months of traveling around eastern Africa. This might be the toughest and most rewarding experience of my life. I'm currently on break but I'm looking to go on a second mission with MSF later this year.
I will never want to stop learning. Traveling is just a part of that. First hand contact with people means you get a glimpse of their situation, their culture, their values and their language. This adds perspective to you and your own situation, which is never as bad as you sometimes might feel like it is. Perspective also brings understanding.
I have a keen interest in languages. A language is more than a means of communication, it is also closely related to the culture and tradition of the region(s) associated with that language. To be fully fluent in any language you need to know and understand the people who speak it.
I love dogs. And cats. And most other animals too. From my dear mother I have inherited a very humane view of animals and simply feel they should be treated good, no matter the circumstances. Especially the ones we have the intention of eating. Watch Food Inc. or We Feed the World and you'll know what I mean.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet cool people, obviously, and get an idea of what life is like in their part of the world. To share stories and to allow myself to be inspired by those who do things I have not yet done or maybe even considered. To listen and to ask questions.
I've surfed with a lot of wonderful people in Canada, central Europe, the UK and Ireland, Turkey and even my home country of Sweden. I've been unable to host as much as I would have liked due to my slightly uprooted life, but I've managed to squeeze in a coupe of lovely new friends from Spain, Romania and Germany in my parents' house in Lund where I grew up.
