About Me

I'm an American student currently living in Switzerland for a 6-month internship.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm shy and very awkward, and I'm trying to get over it by interacting with strangers more. Also, I want to take advantage of living in Europe by traveling as much as I can while I'm here despite being on a budget.

Interests

I'm a huge nerd: Chemistry and history are my greatest interests. I can talk on and on about either once you get me started. I'm also quite political, but not so interested in politics that all my opinions are well-formed or well-informed. I relish the feeling of learning something new and having my mind or perspective changed.

Lately, I have been learning everything I can about African-American history and Swiss history.

Music, Movies, and Books

I would describe my tastes as "trashy." Most of the time, I like the music that plays on the radio, and I usually prefer to watch a movie or TV show rather than read a book. Some of the TV shows I watch regularly are crap (guilty pleasures) like Once Upon a Time, but mostly I like to watch sci-fi/fantasy (like Battlestar Galactica and Orphan Black), documentaries (like Cosmos and The World Before Her), historical/period dramas (like Pillars of the Earth/World without End and Fingersmith), and biographical dramas (like Princess Ka'iulani and Iron Jawed Angels and Belle). Oh, and I'm a big fan (huge) of Community and Bob's Burgers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I graduated high school early. Yeah, I don't think I have done many amazing things yet... Oh, I did propose an experiment at work and I got to design it myself in April. That was pretty cool.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not sure what this section is for.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am very good at grammar and I'm like a human dictionary/thesaurus, so I'm a good person to practice English with. Given a needle and thread, I can sew a button to something or patch or repair torn clothing pretty quickly. I can tell you stuff about an obscure part of the US (North Carolina and the Southeast in general--I have traveled very little in the US outside that region). Oh, I suppose now I can tell you a lot about Switzerland (mainly just the northwest part) as well.

Or does "share" mean physical things? If asked, I could bring some Swiss beer from the canton where I live or something like that.
