Overview
About Me
My mame is Rachel, I am 37 years old & am married to Jose. We have recently sold our home in order to fulfill a dream of hiking the Appalachian Trail as well as spend time in my husbands country, Guatemala. We have a puppy, Benito (a Shi-Poo).
I have worked for various non-profits for the past 15 years. My husband is a Plant Pathologist with with a focus on potato diseases.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love to meet new people and offer my hospitality when people are visiting the area. I have managed to find many people randomly on the street, while biking or just out and about who need a place to stay for the night - or a few nights and cherish the friendships formed.
Interests
I am a vegetarian and love to cook fabulous veggie meals. I also love to garden and take walks that last most of the day. I also love to play old school NES video games and attend as many bizarre events as possible.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love almost all music - especially oldies from the 50's and 50's - but have a soft spot in my heart for love ballads from the 80's and early 90's. I love the Pogues, the Doors, Theresa Brewer, Michael Bolton and Johnny Cash.
As far as movies go I love Better off Dead, Blue Velvet, People Under the Stairs, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Wizard of Oz, Mary Poppins, Moonrise Kingdom - and many documentaries.
I love autobiographies - and classic books like Anne of Green Gables, Secret Garden, Little Princess, A Wrinkle in Time, ....
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Moreso than one amazing thing - I feel my life has been a series of small amazing things - too many to mention - but enough to write a fabulous memoir. My husband and I just completed a six month hike of the 2,200 mile Appalachian Trail....we are looking forward to a new adventure soon.
Teach, Learn, Share
One of my favorite jobs was working at the Greyhound in downtown Fargo. I was able to meet hundreds of people every day - most of whom I would only see once - and who had come from everywhere. I was in my early 20's - and oftentimes I would be closing at 2:30 a.m. There were times where I invited customers over to sleep who would be having very long lay overs due to storms or other circumstances - this was before couch surfing existed.
What I Can Share with Hosts
At this time I a homeless after just returning from hiking the Appalachian Trail. I am unable to host at this time, unless it's in the woods.
