ABOUT ME

I've studied humanities storytelling and puppetry. I worked as theater technician for some years. I've still a small worshop of puppets with eternal work in progress projects.
I swapped my job of stagehand, and I have been working as a freelance hiking guide on the Aeolian Islands, and Etna Mountain. www.hikeinsicilia.com
I grew up in Ortigia, but after coming back from latest experience abroad 3 years ago I moved to the countryside and now I live near the marine riserve Plemmirio.
There is a bus from town here, the nr°23, and I have 2 bicycle I can land you if you want to go in town.

I prefer to host people that can partake 2/3 hours of their time to help me working in the garden or for little maintenance of the house and the outdoor space.
I work as hiking guide and it might be welcome to have an hand in preparing the garment and the material used for the excursions.
You are welcome to join the tour if I have room in the car.

Not far from the house where I live, lives my girlfriend Alessia running a project called “Le Piante Selvatiche” (The Wild Plants”)

She lives in an old house of the 19 century that is open to share and welcome people for ecosostenibility actions, human developing, art and theater,social gardening and permaculture, a place where children are vey welcome and every knowledge to share in highly appreciated.
Once upon the time I liked challenges. I relished to pushing myself beyond my confort zone, to prove the limits and boundaries of my feelings.
And one of the challeges right now is keeping doing what I like without hurting myself.

About Siracusa. I sow my born place changing a lot and this is what I think and feel now about my town.
Ortigia. the 'core' of Siracusa, it’s not as it was to be anymore.
Much of it is is fake glittering, pubs and restaurants are everywhere, posh and fashionable shops. A place as Siracusa has not a theater, not a cultural center, not an auditorium for music.
At a first look it can appear a lively place, but most of this places have no soul.
They know that the new business is done under the brand “local”.
The vocation is now making fast, easy money.
The are not real places.
I personally lost all the enjoyment for this little island, that seems to be only for the trendy.
The star of the ending has began, eating voraciously and swiftly the places. The people living are pushed away.

The symbol of this transformation is the harbor of Siracusa,
where barges are dredging up the bottom to build the new truistic port.
Some great historical events happens in those waters.
The battle between Athen and Siracusa fleets. The siege from Roman Empire.
We welcome russian money, the bis cruise ship with people coming to build fake souvenirs, and the luxury yacht.
It seems there’s no resistance to all of this.
Everybody is dazzled by the great progress of the economic development. Amen "

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Before the couchsurfing era, I hosted several people I came across with. Encounters on the road, friends of other friends, street artists looking for a place to lay down, and travelers who had been spontaneously to offer to stay on the couch for a night.
Then Couchsurfing arrived and the causality left the space to a marvelous way to enreach your days ( I still like casuality though..)

Hosting travellers, allow me to go out from the routine of this wonderfull and boring small town, blowing on the coil, sometimes sleeping in my brain.

Interests

Staying in nature and outdoor make me feel, a human being.
I love feeding my mind while stretching my body. Cycling, swimmig, walking for miles, climbing, sleeping outdoor, are some of my passions.
Some back troubles try to keep me away from doing that as much I want!!

Music, Movies, and Books

I play music. I like playing togheter with others in the most various contexts if there's the right osmosis. Shared music is one of the best way to convey with humang beings, nature and with the rest of the worlds.

The music I like: Motorpsycho, Goodspeedyou Black Emperor! DoMakeSayThink, Ben Harper, Shannon Wright, Cinematic Orchestra, Notwist, Mogwai, Metronomy, ShippingNews, Calexico, Nick Drake, Andrew Bird, Rachel's... just some of them, bound in a blow in my inner space.
I prefer books of tales and short stories, I adore all the litterature tha can give me a different point of view. Some writers I like:
Edgar Allan Poe, Luis Borges, Antonio Tabucchi, Fernando Pessoa

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Making love on the ciffs of Ireland.
Kayaking alone in the ocean at night in Western Australia.
The silver of moon on the water surface, skimming, the line of the shore stealing,
In distance outlined in the penumbra, the red walls rocks, the bays, a secret destination.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to play chess if you like. Singing a couple of sicilian lullabies, Greek myths, basic observation of the sky and constellations.
How to give little relaxing massages and how to eat an orange in a fast way !
