About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Just bouncing around really

ABOUT ME ---- will update soon.

I recently got out of the Navy to go back to school. I am studying Graphic Design at James Madison University. As a 29 year old, the college experience has been a little more different than the typical college years of most. I have to admit that I chose JMU because of its close proximity to the Appalachian Mountains. I love to mtn bike, rock climb, and backpack. I love traveling, and this last July put about 4000 miles on my truck via solo trips around the eastern seaboard.

PHILOSOPHY

If you had ask me approximately a year ago where I would be now, going to a four year college for art school would not have even ranked on my list. I have completely reinvented myself over the last year. From where I saw myself to where I am now, I have undergone many changes. I have found that once you release your need to control other people in one form or another, life with people can be most enjoyable. Saying "accepting people for who they are" and actually doing it are very different, but once you do take someone for who they are, without criticism, suggestions, judgments, or direction, then you can truly get along. That is why I have the most random assortment of friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have a couch (and by couch I mean air mattress) open and waiting, and trying to get out and about now.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed in NYC and a few other places. I most recently couchsurfed in Scotland for a week. It was spectacular

Interests

Mtn Biking, Rock Climbing, backpacking. I like checking art out in all facets. I like design related stuff. I enjoy reading, and when I'm not studying for school can sit down and chew up a good book. I am looking to get my skydiving cert within the next year. And also take an epic trip to Europe on my own (check!).

Music, Movies, and Books

On the Road - Jack Kerouac. This is practically the couch surfers' handbook right?
Do Travel Writers Go to Hell?

"The Fall" - A Spike Jonez Movie
Any Wes Anderson Movies

I hate to say I like all music, but my ipod has the most random collection of music on it. Bluegrass, techno, rap, rock, outlaw country, classical, opera, show tunes. the list goes on and on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

To this day, watching the sun rise on the east coast is one of my favorite things. No matter what time of year.

Teach, Learn, Share

In all my travels you can never go wrong with a camping towel. They are big, like real towels and pack small in your bag.

Countries I’ve Visited

Afghanistan, Bahamas, Bahrain, Belize, Czech Republic, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Honduras, Iraq, Italy, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, Scotland, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, Virgin Islands, U.S.
