About Me
Kia Ora Everyone,
My wife and I are really passionate about meeting new people and experiencing new cultures which is why we have set out to travel the world for a year. We are from the little, isolated but beautiful country New Zealand, so we don't get to travel much usually. We got married in December and thought if we don't go now, we never will.
We both grew up in rural NZ, but recently have been living in the city for work. We love animals, and unfortunately had to leave our pets behind so would love to stay with people who have pets. We really want to experience normal life in the countries we go to, so fitting into your life is exactly what we want.
Sorry we have no reviews, we were trying to host people in New Zealand, for a few months before we left NZ but Vanessa was unwell and we had to move out of our house. Hopefully we will get some soon!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Me and my partner are both friendly and love meeting new people. We really want people who come to our country to have the best experience possible and we will try to make that possible.
While we are travelling we want to have authentic and diverse experiences of the countries we visit, not just the tourist experience. Couchsurfing is a way that we can stay within our budget but also get to see the world from the perspectives of the people that live, work and play there.
Interests
Anything outdoors, we are both pretty active people and love being outside (especially in summer). We love animals and have pets at home.
We love music and Vanessa loves dancing. We are really social and spend a lot of time at the beach, having picnics with friends or a casual drink.
Boyd loves motorbikes and cars, hockey and watching (or playing) sports.
We both love kids and hope to have some of our own one day.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
We have been travelling in Jordan, and wanted to have a local experience. We signed up for a homestay that had no reviews but that looked awesome, which ended up being with a man that had recently started up an NGO. After getting completely lost, no-one speaking any English, drawing maps on pieces of paper and following kids around in the sweltering midday heat, we found our host. We ate with him and his friends, we helped him with his NGO, we talked to him about life in Jordan, we visited beautiful canyons nearby, and we slept at his house. It was one of those moments that you put your trust and faith in a complete stranger and in return you get the most fulfilling and memorable experience, that is off the beaten track.
Teach, Learn, Share
We speak fluent English and are keen to help anyone that wants to practice or learn English. We really don't mind breaking down language barriers with creative communication, in fact we enjoy it.
We come from a rural background so can help out outdoors or on the farm if you need it.
What I Can Share with Hosts
We can cook you some Pavlova, a typical NZ dessert that we think you will enjoy! We also like to give something back to our hosts, so would love to cook you a meal that we can share one evening.
We can also help out around your home or farm when we can.
