About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Giving feels good

ABOUT ME

My name is Chris. I live in Watford, Hertfordshire. It's really close to London, about 15/20 minutes on the train. And we live really close to the train station, so that's good.

I work in a school. I am a darkroom technician in the Photography department. It's ok. I work with young people all day which can be rewarding and very trying!! In equal measure!

I'm a very laid-back and friendly person. I get on with most people I meet. I don't like to take things too seriously. I'd rather have a laugh. Having said that, I enjoy the odd 'deep' conversation. Usually when drunk.

I enjoy cycling, camping, walking, going to the cinema, live music, photography, radio and drinking tea. Basically I'm alright. I'm an alright guy. We should hang out!

PHILOSOPHY

I think we're not around for long, so we might as well do what we enjoy. No sense in worrying too much about whether it was the right thing to do, or if we can afford it. Just do it and worry about it later.
...I could be wrong of course! But it'd be nice to live like that, wouldn't it?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I think Couch Surfing is a brilliant idea! I was walking the Thames river a year ago and had nowhere to camp. A guy was walking his dog in a field. We got chatting and he offered me his back garden. It's little touches like that that make some trips so unique. I said to myself 'I hope I get to do that for someone someday'. So here I am on Couch Surf.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm completely new to Couch Surfing. Never done it before. Be nice!

Interests

Cycling, cinema, radio- I produce a show for my local radio station twice a week. I also produce a podcast and try to make radio documentaries in my spare time. I love podcasts, Radio4, 6Music. I have been drawing comic strips lately. I enjoy it, although I can't really draw! My girlfriend and I like to go camping and hiking.

Music, Movies, and Books

Recently read and enjoyed The Girls by Emma Cline. Stoner by John Williams. Seconds by Bryan Lee O'Malley. Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. Now reading The Adversary by Emmanuel Carrère.

Jurassic Park is my favourite film. There, I said it. And Speed. The Ghostbusters films have always been favourites too.

Currently listening to a lot of Waxahatchee, Bon Iver, The Mountain Goats. It changes all the time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw the sun rise at Angkor Wat, in Cambodia.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can make a mean cup of tea! I'll always chip in with the cooking/washing up. I can cook a pretty good pasta bake too!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach you how to use that analogue camera you bought and never used! I'm really good at cards. I will teach you and challenge you to a good old game of ShitHead! I'm helpful, I wash up, I cook, walk dogs, babysit...

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Belgium, Cambodia, Ecuador, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Laos, Scotland, Singapore, Thailand, United States, Viet Nam, Wales
