ABOUT ME

I am an individual who hates labels because I feel as though it is very difficult to know someone without looking into their eyes. Republicans would call me liberal, but I have some Ideas that are not too liberal. Some call me gregarious, but at times I am reserved, some say my six feet and 195 pounds is large, but my good friend who is 6'4 240 thinks I'm small. Labels are relative, but on average I am a fun loving outgoing tolerant individual with a passion for the countryside, sunsets, and people. I applied for a PhD in sociology but then realized that I just cannot stay that focused on one microscopic issue. I love to learn and construct my reality as I go. Most of all I am a person that loves others :)

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that we shall never truly know the truth if there is one to be known. I believe that our experiences in life expose us to differing filters by which we view the world. Filters that let us interpret and organize other experiences and I do not believe that any one filter intrinsically has more merit then any other. I judge filters based on their ability to help us improve our lives so if Judaism helps you understand your world in way that makes life the best for you then I respect that. If a scientist interprets his world through quantum mechanics and it has positive results for him then I'm all for it. My beliefs ebb and flow, but I usually make the best sense of my world through a mix of eastern philosophies and quantum physics, but if they stop producing positive results in my life I may become a Jehovah's witness...who knows?

I am interested in living life to the fullest and experiencing what it has to offer in a way that is akin to the manner that Henry David Thoreau espoused in "Walden." I love to learn, read, hike, camp, watch stars, walk, observe, practice different forms of martial arts, EAT, and exercise. I love a good dialogue with a like-minded individual. I'm relatively liberal about almost all issues. I'm seriously concerned with environmental issues and sustainable living. Upon returning I hope to get involved in non-profit work in regards to sustainable living issues. Also I love to dance almost exclusively to hip-hop although I listen to all genres of music

Books; On Walden Pond by Henry David Thoreau, Ishmael by Daniel Quinn actually anything by Daniel Quinn, The Selfish gene by Richard Dawkins, Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond, Anything by Michael Creighton, I know its a cliche but , the di vinci code by Dan brown, How the Mind works by Steven Pinker, the Moral Animal by Robert Wright, basically any popular science, history or social science book is what I like to read with the occasional fiction book to give me a break.

Music: I love Hip Hop and R& B. That is the music that I love to dance to but I listen to everything. I love Bob Marley, and anything acoustic particularly Ben Harper. I like the shins, staind, and classic rock, but outkast is my absolute favorite group. I love me some music.

I commercial fished in Alaska on Kodiak Island. I was a set netter and lived in a cabin that was only accessible by a pontoon plane. I lived with a family and we fished every day for 3 months for around 10-14 hours. No Phones or concrete. It was by far the most amazing experience of my life. I also jumped out of a plane once and that shit was crazy!
