About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See where the road takes me...

ABOUT ME

I graduated from university in 2009 after which I decided that life was too short and I should just do something that would be totally different, would scare the crap out of me and hopefully, just maybe, I'd learn something new about myself. That is, I bought a touring bicycle and flew to Praha, Czech Repulic to start a 3 month, solo bicycle touring trip through Central, Eastern Europe down to the Balkans and Turkey... and back. I made it as far as Istanbul and then north to Romania. Then I ran out of time.

The "real" life stared for me with an Engineering job in Calgary. Here I've been enjoying spending as much time as possible climbing mountains in the summer and winter. Usually in the winter I prefer to ski down them once I've made it to the top though!

For work, I'm working hard to move into a job that focuses on sustainable development. As such, right now that means Grad school is looking pretty likely. Yeah!

PHILOSOPHY

If you don't challenge yourself, feel and do differently then life's just boring! Have I ever toured on a bike? No! But I'm doing it anyway and I'll figure out the details on the way there!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I learned about CouchSurfing from a friend just now and plan to get involved when I return home from my travels. Currently I don't stay in one place for very long, but when I return from my trip I will be living right on the Rocky Mountains and will have my doors open to any CS who needs a place to stay!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Lots of experience while traveling through Central and Eastern Europe. Was treated to some awesome experiences while visiting some amazing places. What really opened my eyes was how friendly people are - or are capable of being. I love meeting locals, travellers, and learning something new every day!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Every mountain I've climbed is special! At the top, above the clouds and completely silent except for the sound of your own breath.

The people in Thailand who never stopped smiling.
