About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Immersing...old cities, new trails, strange tastes, intoxicating music

ABOUT ME

Totally in love with the feel, the tastes, the cultures I have visited, and hope to continue my journeys. I have studied and participated in extended Vision Quest in the Native American tradition. Student of Tibetan Buddhism, traveled to Nepal, India, China and Tibet. Also to Spain and Israel. Just got back from Bhutan and Thailand.
I love how wilderness feels both vast and intimate. For many years I was a practitioner and teacher of healing through touch...mostly shiatsu and a Kurdish form called Breema (very beautiful). In some ways that touch carried over into training horses in a Portugese school of classical dressage. I sometimes feel that just sitting with a horse, cleaning the stall or feeling their grace and power as I ride...all the same.

Love a good book, cinema of all sorts. Admit that I really enjoy Sci-Fi 'trekkie'stories, a river rafter, good wine and old cities...and sharing all of the above with a friend.

PHILOSOPHY

Embracing wholeness, healing and adventure.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hope to host folks here in the Berkeley, CA area (technical address is Richmond, don't be put off...near Albany and Pt Richmond on the Bay. A beautiful, safe area adjacent to the San Francisco Bay).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Great....In Spain, in Italy with a cs friend and in Holland.

Interests

Travel, Photography, Food and good wine. I have loved to take off to the wilderness as much as the old markets of Jerusalem or Kathmandu. When I visit places I seek out music, art and great local food. Hang out with other species of animal, domesticated or not, whenever possible.

Music, Movies, and Books

Interests in a wide variety of culture, most especially traditional ethnic music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Trekked, gotten abandoned by my lovely Sherpa guy, lost, challenged to think about high elevation survival...and then, happily found at 18,000' in Annapurna range.

Teach, Learn, Share

Please see above. Bringing all of experience to share and to continue to learn.
