About Me

Recent college grad, moved to Charlotte area from Clemson to accept a job after graduation. I enjoy meeting new people, entertaining, hosting; friends, friends of friends, strangers, anyone. Firm believer in karma, and trying to stay on the positive side. I listen to a lot of music and drink a reasonable to slightly excessive amount of beer depending on who you ask, Mom says too much, Dad keeps up. Free time consists of spending time outside, attending concerts, or exploring new bars/breweries.

Sidenote about languages: My spanish is coming up very rapidly. I expect to be fluent within the year. Goals.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I own a couch that I only sleep on 15% of the time due to the fact that I have a bed. I long-term couchsurfed in undergrad before I could afford to move out of my parents' place. Hotels charge way too much for a place to sleep so I couchsurf with friends as much as possible when I travel. I stumbled upon this website via an article on vice.com and thought it was a cool idea so figured I could host and hopefully have a place to stay if I venture to cities where I don't currently have friends. Work requires travel sometimes and I'd look like a superstar if I could spare that expense.

Interests

Music, brewery tours, festivals, hair donator, lakes, beaches, water in general, snowboarding when water is not favorable, talking, kinda think I'd like to be a stand-up comedian if this whole engineering thing doesn't work out. Also, since I went from a college town with roommates to living solo, cooking has become an interest.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Mostly underground hip-hop and reggae/dub/ska type stuff depending on my mood. Definitely a hip-hop head because I like hearing about a culture I'm not a part of from those who are. Karaoke king.

Movies: Pulp Fiction is my favorite. I watch it once a month at least. Love Tarantino. I also like comedies. Sequels usually suck. Horror movies are hit or miss in terms of quality.

Books: Loved books until they were forced upon me. Now I spend a lot of time reading articles, getting schooled on stuff I'm unfamiliar with.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Donated peripheral blood stem cells to a leukemia patient in May of 2014. I get the opportunity to meet her in May of this year and am ecstatic. I also donate my hair to cancer patients. Holding my positive side of karma.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think life is basically about doing what you enjoy and not being an asshole to other people. If it doesn't affect you, then who gives a shit? That goes for people's hobbies, race, sexuality, religion, and morals. Go out of your way to help someone sometime. It'll make you feel better about yourself.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good times, good conversations. I often times clean when I drink so I'll probably leave your place better than I found it if drinking is on the agenda. I still try to do that even if drinking isn't on the agenda. I might put the spoons where the forks go, but at least I'll try.
