About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meet as many people as possible and making life lasting connections and spread my views and adopt others to see if we can align the world in some kind of symmetry!

ABOUT ME

I grew up in San Diego, California in a family of four and with one older brother. I love to play sports, I played volleyball all through high school and did a plethora of other sports in my down time. I went to college at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona where I first fell in love with the idea of a small town. Coming from such a big city like San Diego, it was nice to have something more secluded and with a more natural environment.

Going to Flagstaff also really fostered a good environment for my love for nature and the outdoors because it the city itself is nestled at the base of the Colorado Plato. Here I became much more involved in backpacking, camping, hiking, mountain running, a bit of climbing and simply enjoying the peacefulness of the woods. Being in Flagstaff also pushed me forward in the direction of conservation, which has been a passion of mine since I was a boy.

My third year at college, I decided I wanted more experience than what I had already gotten and wanted to reset again in a new place so I decided to study abroad in Spain with a friend of mine. We moved over to Oviedo in January of 2014 and couldn't have had a better time. This gave me a whole new set of passions like learning about others character, being set outside my comfort zone (sometimes pretty drastically) and traveling to different parts of the world. This was such a good experience!!

After Spain, I moved back to the states and finished my degree in Business Finance and moved back to San Diego. I worked for a bit at a Rooftop Solar company for almost a year but was getting uncomfortable. My life felt slightly dull and like I was falling into a pit of normality and routine. So on May 1st I decided to put in my application to apply for a teaching position in Spain as an assistant and see if I could move back over for a year. I WAS ACCEPTED! So I quit my job, worked at a pizza restaurant for a few months, traveled California to see some music festivals then moved over to Spain again.

Currently I am a teacher in Spain living in Moralzalzar with a wonderful family of five, teaching their children English as well as working at one of the near by schools. I had been here sense August 29th of 2016 and am enjoying every second of it! I live in the mountains in a small town with plenty of opportunity to indulge in my passions which are hiking, climbing, running, singing, producing music, reading, and of course being much more intimate with a culture other than my own.

I love that I am back here and free again from the restrictions I feel like a traditional 9-5 puts on your shoulders and I can not wait to see what round two of traveling has to yield!

PHILOSOPHY

Don't ever take life to seriously. We are not born on this world to work, we were put here to learn and grow as people. In order to learn best you cannot let fear restrict you from your desires. If there is an option for you to go somewhere that is even mildly interesting, you need to take it because it will only hone your character and sharpen your sights of what makes you, you. Although it may be tough at first to take leaps of faith because of your comfort zone, once you have stepped out of your circle of comfort once, you have now expanded what you are comfortable with and will have more confidence stepping into the unknown once more.

Be comfortable with the uncomfortable.

In the world, we are all the same on the inside, it is our job as conscious being to see this true.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm a very friendly person first and for most and I LOVE to joke around! I love to explore new destinations and meet new people to expand my knowledge in what makes people, people. I'm very interested in the physiology of the world and how every culture thinks differently which is why I have set up this profile!

I first set up my couch surfing profile in 2014 to travel around Spain while I lived and studied in Oviedo, Austrias, but unfortunately never took the opportunity to do so. In the beginning I didn't fully grasp the concept of couch surfing and didn't understand it's full benefits. However, once I returned to the States, I talked to some friends that have traveled the whole world using this medium and they introduced me to tons of great friends they have made along the way and shared information about others lifestyles that I would never have guessed would be that way. This idea in tandem with my desire to explore my avenue as a teacher, pushed me to move abroad again over to Spain and give couch surfing a serious try!

Interests

My interests change with the seasons. One moment I'm putting my whole life into music and can't think of anything else but then the next month rolls around and I can't think of anything else but to get on the trail and never stop backpacking. I never have a fixed set of interests because I am always looking for new things that will catch my attention. But definitely my favorite things would include music, the outdoors, sports, reading, long conversations over dinners, lunches, breakfasts and cooking.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a die hard electronic music fan but most of all, my favorite sub genre of electronic music is House. Overall though, I am a music enthusiast. I enjoy music of all genres. I grew up on jazz and disco from my dad, became interested in rock and metal when I was young, switched over to bagpipes when I was in middle school, switched back to rock and then discovered electronic. After electronic I fell in love with live jam bands like Umphreys McGee, Lotus, The Disco Biscuits, Perpetual Groove and moe. for their amazing live performances.

I would love to explore different styles from around the world more, my world taste has not been satisfied at all yet.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I love to hike. One time my friend Ben Menell and I began a hike at 10pm on a Saturday night at 7,500 feet to summit Mt. Humphreys in Flagstaff, Arizona to see the sunrise at 12,637 feet. We hiked all night during the end of October so temperatures were bellow freezing to start and almost zero at the top not including wind. At 6:15am Sunday morning we made it to the top and at 6:36am witnessed a large flash of life then the sun cresting above the earth, ascending quickly into the sky, casting a shadow of the mountain so far onto the landscape that it crept into the clouds miles away.

However, I had meet my fellow club members of the Student Philanthropy Council in the homecoming parade that I had just organized at 9am. So quickly after seeing the sunrise, we ran off trail to descend the mountain quicker. We made it off the mountain and made the 20 minute drive to downtown Flagstaff, arriving at 8:45am just 15 minutes before the parade started.

The most satisfying and intense morning I've ever experienced in my life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share a friendly world attitude that I believe is not dying, but is definitely being overshadowed by so many harsh events. I can cook native meals, share full together learning about each other and am happy to assist in anything that one may need for hosting. I love becoming apart of ones home when I visit places. We are all one big global community and next to community is family so lets just narrow the gap and turn ourselves into relatives around the world!
