Overview
About Me
In 2016 I retired from my career in the USA and have moved full time to Hue Vientnam.
My wife Thanh Lai and I got married back in March 2017.
Early we got a great place here in Hue city and have been enjoying our lives to the fullest!
As for this summer here in 2019 we are visiting family on the USA so won’t be accepting guests.
We will resume in October 2019.
PHILOSOPHY
We all have something to learn from each other.
Our international relationships are deepened by connecting in language. The best thing we can do as travelers is to try to be alive and thrive in another language.
The limit of your language is the limit of your world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We both truly enjoy meeting people and those that choose to travel Asia are always a fun and adventurous bunch.
Along the way I do enjoy showing the country to people and of course teaching the Vietnamese language to those who are traveling here.
Thanh Lai recently decided to pick up Spanish as her 3rd language and always delights in meeting those with a bit of knowledge to share.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A couple of years ago (starting Dec 2014) I bought a motorcycle in Saigon and embarked on a road trip across Vietnam. I think that's the best way to really get in deep with the people and the culture.
Over a few weeks I visited many of the coastal cities of Vietnam, stayed in many small towns and villages along the way, and even got to visit the coffee plantations of Da Lat. There were hundreds of highlights!
This trip really sealed in a life-long love for the country of Vietnam, it's people, and of course the beautiful language of Vietnamese!
This trip also inspired me to move to Vietnam permanently!
Since then I've made this trip 3 times.
To this day I still have and drive this motorcycle. It's the foundation for my future life in Vietnam.
