Overview
About Me
I'm one year removed from my undergrad degree and always curious to learn more about the world and my place it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing was recommended to me as an amazing way to travel cheaply while making connections with people local to an area and having a richer experience relationally and educationally. I love learning deeply about places and the opportunity to have meaningful exchanges with people I might not normally meet, so I'm all for those being a part of travel! Once I have the opportunity to host, I look forward to introducing guests to my area as well.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books
I mostly read non-fiction, either memoirs or essays/think-pieces. Some of my favorites I've read (or almost finished 😅) over the last couple years are:
-The Fire Next Time
- Between the World and Me
- Gringo by Chesa Boudin
- The Warmth of Other Suns
- New Power
- The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why it Matters
- Selfie
Music
I listen to what I think is a pretty decent variety, including current pop and hip hop hits, indie and alternative, some folk, reggaeton, rock from multiple decades, and 80s music. I'm always interested to try new stuff and expand my horizons!
Movies
My favorites are ones that make me think about the world in a different way. My specific favorite movie experience was watching the Italian movie "Like Crazy" (or "La pazza gioia") with Spanish subtitles in a Costa Rican movie theater. Over the last couple years, I've been interested in checking out independent, more artsy films when I can. The movies I've most enjoyed from the last year or so:
- Get Out
- Lady Bird
- Sorry to Bother You
- The Hate U Give
- Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
- A Star is Born
- Bohemian Rhapsody
- Roma
I'll also always love "Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Wear Rabbit."
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One Amazing Thing I've Seen - I watched a couple guys climb up the rock faces on the edge of a waterfall to then jump from the top of the waterfall to the pool of water below.
One Amazing Thing I've Done - I danced to "Happy" by Pharell Williams on a truck bed during a 4th of July Parade.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach:
- some Spanish
- some English
- about soccer and volleyball
- about fair trade as one model to help alleviate global poverty
I'd love to learn about your passions, dreams, and hobbies, as well as anything else you want to share.
As each journey allows, I'd like to share quality time and conversation, whether over a meal, an activity, or outing. At the least, I hope to share mutual appreciation for our paths having crossed.
