About Me
CURRENT MISSION
At the moment I am traveling to Colorado (my home state) with my fiance, who is form England. I hope to teach him about baseball at a Rockies game, and eat some buffalo burgers. He grows his own hops, so he should at least have the microbrew thing down...
ABOUT ME
Wow. Have lived in Italy 10+ years. I am working on another degree at a University here (Political Science), I run track and field (short distances and pole vault). For work I do translations, teaching and corporate "formation" & training of the English language in Rome, Italy.
I realized that although I've seen a lot of Italy during my time in Europe, I've seen almost nothing in the other countries... I've decided it's because I already live in another culture, working in another language, as well as running and studying (tiring!). Going to another country sounds like fun, but traveling by myself and managing in a 3rd culture sounds like work, not fun. I get a lot of adventure in my normal life; without being backpacky and pub-crawly. :) Am hoping Couchsurfing will help solve this.
That said, I'm fun, like to travel, and love cultral exchange!
PHILOSOPHY
a la Joseph Campbell: follow your bliss. don't look down. try not to be a total tool. don't worry about the answer, try to have an interesting question.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Although I can't host (my roomies/landlord are very traditional, they'd have heart attacks if random people stayed here: a friend's cousin stayed once- they practically asked for fingerprints.)
Anyway, if you're coming to Rome I can help you navigate or I can do coffee. If you're a runner, you can come run with us!
If I'm coming to you, I am a fab cook of American tex-mex, as well as a fantastic baker of all things American. I've done Italian cooking classes, so I could also whip up some fish or pasta, and/or teach you how to do a few dishes. I never come empty-handed. I could also bring Italian stuff, etc. I'm a very good guest. ;)

Interests
I'm not a big drinker/clubber, but I do like going to 'undiscovered' places, art galleries, anything that's offbeat and quirky.
Rome has a very old population (the only older population in the world is Japan) and almost no ethnic food... in addition, 25% of the people here at any one time are tourists, so after almost 5-years here, I've become amazingly easy to please. Find me a wine bar happy hour, curious people with a bit of passion, and some non-Italian food, and I'll be as happy as a clam.
