About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Starting up a new music project - Preparing a cycle trip in England - Learning some Japanese

ABOUT ME

I like the intention of progression in life, to learn and experience something new and revealing every day. I am not that kind of person that wants to settle and doing the same thing from day to day.

I like wearing a moustache. Apparently I look better with than without one.

I like cycling and I hate driving cars. I try to eat meat and fish as less as possible. People call it a moderate vegetarian I suppose? I'm a environmentally conscious person. That way of living is just logic to me.

My main thing in life is playing guitar in a band called "Codasync". We're trying to do something that's never done before without losing the musicality in it and I like the mentality of ignoring the whole music industry and just making plain music for ourselves. At the end of the day we're just trying to make music, but we are really dedicated in what we do. So, what kinda music is Codasync producing? Well, you will have to try and find out for yourself! (www.codasync.com)

Doing some other musical projects too where I play the bass guitar. More on this later...

Since 3 years I'm working as an audio and maintenance engineer at Vantage Point Studio (home studio and base of Antwerpian band dEUS). Previously to that, I studied sound at a filmschool in Brussels and did some internship at a recording studio.

For the rest of my spare time I am doing some live soundmixing, seeing some concerts and hanging out with my friends, etc.

PHILOSOPHY

It is just as ridiculous not to do it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Just good music - movies in any genre whatsoever. I like to hear/see something I've never experienced before, something refreshing. I love the combination of genres and music with an edge. The atmosphere is the most important thing to me in music/movies. That's why I really like soundtracks, soundscape and field recordings or that sorta music.

Twin Peaks is by far the best serie ever, period. End of sentence. No discussion. Case closed.

Some music I really like: Grails, Squarepusher, Slowdive, King Crimson, Dub Trio, Angelo Badalamenti, The Mars Volta, Vangelis, Air, Tool, Björk, Deftones, Medications, Frank Zappa, Jojo Mayer & Nerve, Brian Eno, Avishai Cohen, Opeth, Battles, Nine Inch Nails, Rolo Tomassi, Amanda Palmer (The Dresden Dolls), Mew, Amon Tobin, Aphex Twin, PJ Harvey, Mastodon, Pinback, My Bloody Valentine, Soft Machine, Hudson Mohawke, Can, Dead Can Dance, Meshuggah (live), loads of ambient stuff, ...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Thrilling climb to the summit of Mount Fuji, Japan (by night).
-Being awake for almost 24h and some insane cycling in Beijing, China.
-Boat trip from Shanghai to Osaka after being on the road for at least a month. Most relaxing 2 days of my life.
-Spontaneous hike to Berlin alone with new-years eve. Most crazy fireworks ever.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm really curious and open about what an ambitious person could teach me and this also the other way round.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Mongolia, Morocco, Norway, Romania, Russian Federation, Spain, Switzerland
