关于我
“The word adventure has gotten overused. For me, when everything goes wrong, that’s when adventure starts.” -Yvon Chouinard
Life is too short.
After graduating college, I found myself diving straight into what could be a life long career and then purchasing a house. Then life took a slight turn as I resigned from working for my Dad to become the Lake Cumberland District Executive for the Boy Scouts of America (My parents moved to Somerset for my Dad to take this same job). November, of last year, I resigned from the Scouts and something just didn't feel right. I started working any part time job/odd job that came my way to continue to pay the bills.
Before I knew it, four years had gone by. During this time, I had my ups and downs, but always felt that I was successful during this time. I felt like I was slaving away during the day, just to pay the bills at night. Repeat, repeat, repeat. I thought for some reason that I was doing what I was "supposed" to do in my adult life, but something felt so wrong about it.
I missed adventure, I missed exploring, I missed the fear of the unkown, I missed enjoying the simple things in life, I missed the outdoors, I missed freedom, I missed just being carefree (like we all were as kids).
After plenty of thought, I realized that I wasn't living my life the way I really wanted to. All I really desired was to live simply and happily. Plenty of ideas were contemplated on how to achieve this, but only one seemed right (to me). Buy a small camper go!
November 11, I loaded Juice into the jeep (with camper in tow), waved bye to my house, said, "I love you and I'll see you again, sometime" to my parents, and moved out of Somerset, KY. Exactly a year after departing from the Scouts and realzing that I needed to reassess what I wanted to do with my life. It took some time, a lot more than expected, but I made it. Though my destinations and exact plans are unkown, I know there are destinations all over and plans will always change, so now it's time for me to just live in the now.

Technically, I've not stayed on a couch. I consider myself to be a temporary neighor traveling the country, with a pup, in a mini hibernation pod (Which I left in KY this trip) CouchSurfing is one of the multiple tools I'm using to find places to park the camper and venture to the surrounding areas.
Path of our travels, since October:
-Somerset, KY (Start)
-Bowling Green, KY
-Knoxville, TN
-Casar, NC
-OBX, NC
-Charleston, SC

-Cincinnati, OH
-Colorado (Current)

Interested in traveling miles upon miles. Whether it be by foot, rock climbing, paddling or by vehicle. Since my arrival on the East Coast, I've found my rock climbing and whitewater paddling opportunities have diminished. So, now I'm interested in picking up new hobbies and interests.
