About Me

I am just a boy trying make it in the world. Going back to school to become an engineer, want to help stave off the climate crisis by contributing to the transition to renewable energy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet interesting people with the intimate knowledge of a place that comes only from intentional exploration and extensive reflection. I want to travel in a way that is not only edifying to myself, but also those I meet, and I think that couchsurfing will connect me with those people who want the same.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am fond of science fiction, but would never close a good book. Some of my favorites are The Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison, Homage to Catalonia and 1984 by George Orwell, Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Dune The Three Body Problem, and everything I have read by Kurt Vonnegut, Ursala Le Guin, and Kim Stanley Robinson. Music is one of my favorite aspects of being human, especially now. We have unprecedented access to so much incredible music, and more is being made and shared every day. I am particularly fond of folk music, a broad term I vaguely define as the "authentic" music which claims some connection with the past. I think that anything more specific than that limits the discussion much more than is necessary. Otherwise, I am a fan of bluegrass(read: American folk), funky dance music, jazz, classical, rock, blues, electronic, and all those weird gray areas where these and genres overlap to create beautiful boundary defying beats.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent a summer exploring Spain followed by a whole year in Hungary with many trips had therein.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy cooking quite a bit and would love to share and learn from those I meet. I am a novice juggler, and would love to teach anyone who is interested, or if you happen to know something I don't, then please, show me your ways. I like to dance a lot, and am eager and willing to learn more. I can show you what little I know of dancing, but really, it would just make you look silly.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I very much want to learn about the local history and contemporary identity of the people and places I visit, as interpreted by those who have experienced it. I want to learn about the language(specifically Spanish) and culture of the places I visit. I can offer only the limited interpretation of a young American's perspective on the world, and a handful of skill that I have yet to master, but that I hope we can learn more about together.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
