Hi there!

I'm a brewer by trade, gearing up to get my brewmaster's certification in Berlin. A Canadian through and through, I can cook you a tourtiere and argue tooth and nail that maple syrup goes well on anything. I generally try to explore cities on foot, and at the end of a day like that I just need something soft to lay my head on. I am social but not necessarily extroverted; mostly happy sharing food and drink with friends, new or old. I'm very new to couchsurfing, but I hope to find myself deleting this sentence sooner rather than later!

Interests

Film, especially Weimar / NGC era German, Taiwanese, and Terrence Malick film(s). Long form journalism. Cooking and baking. Beer, obviously, especially lambic and its many cousins, and world class hoppy beers. Crosswords -- you could boil me in a pot if you kept me distracted by them long enough.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've biked thousand kilometre tours three times: Montreal to Boston, Toronto to Baltimore, and Niagara to Pittsburgh. I've seen an avalanche fell trees like they were twigs. I've sat on a floor with 16 near-identical puppies jumping over me and trying to eat every item of my clothing, and picked one which became my best companion for 12 years.
