About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live, love and learn :)

ABOUT ME

Well I'm a relatively easy going guy. I enjoy most things in life especially those involving people and culture ;)...music; concerts, festivals, theater, ballet, opera and classical. All artistic expression interest me greatly. I've been playing the acoustic guitar for about 10 years and the djembe drum for around 5. I consider music to be an extremely important role as well as influence in my life. That and people. I love conversation and learning about my fellow human...more so one on one, but also within a good dynamic group. Trying to understand better this phenomenon we are all experiencing, exploring and sharing together. Learning about trust, intention, love and compassion. So on and so forth. Ask away...

PHILOSOPHY

"Effortlessly floating. Not having to do anything at all. Just letting go, just allowing myself to be carried along, just asking this irresistible sleeping river of life to take me where it's going - and knowing all the time that where it's going is where I want to go, Where I have to go: into more life, into living peace. Along the sleeping river, irresistibly, into the wholeness of reconciliation." the Island - Aldous Huxley

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
Some momentary awareness
Comes as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!...

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
Meet them at the door laughing,
And invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
Because each has been sent
As a guide from beyond - Rumi

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have had a log-in for couchsurfing since 2007 but have only successfully reached out and used it 3 separate occasions. Although I have 'couchsurfed' outside of the site all over the world. I only recently remembered what a unique and wonderful resource this really is and decided to update my profile as I begin again to travel!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couch surfed in France, Holland, Serbia, Romania, Moldova and the U.S. as well as having slept on many other, random couches in my life ;) Sometimes the couches of people I had only just met and sometimes the couches of best friends. I love meeting new people and sharing stories. I look forward to meeting you :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I love literature. Ive been on a classics binge a while but have begun to branch out, mostly recommendation to recommendation...to expand the horizon. Some of my favorite authors include; Hunter Thompson, Ernest Hemingway, Jack Kerouac, Carlos Castaneda, Kurt Vonnegut and Edward Abbey. As far as music goes I am very open and enjoy most all styles and genres...aside that of the more recent Country and Rap/Hip hop coming out today. The old school music from those genres is great. I melt when listening to instrumental compositions. Lots of classical, jazz and psychedelic jam band stuff. Some of my favorite bands and composers include; Tool, the Band, the Allman Brothers, John Prine, the Doors, Wolfgang Mozart, Antonin Dvorák, Igor Stravinsky and...well this list could go on forever...but there are a few examples :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This type of information is much better discussed face to face...but I've experienced so much in my life that has left me 'awestruck'. The world is one gigantic playground and with the right approach most things can leave you awestruck...I love this being human and wondering over the mystery. I am a very open, loving individual and never step back...I love stepping outside of my comfort zone, being vulnerable and embracing the unknown.

Teach, Learn, Share

When the going gets weird...the weird turn pro. - Hunter Thompson

Happiness cannot be found through great effort and willpower.
But is already there, in relaxation and letting go.
Don't strain yourself, there is nothing to do.
Only our search for happiness prevents us from seeing it.
Don't believe in the reality of good and bad experiences;
They are like rainbows.

Wanting to grasp the ungraspable, you exhaust yourself in vain.
As soon as you relax this grasping space is there,
- open, inviting and comfortable.

So, make use of it. All is yours already
Don't search any further
Nothing to do
Nothing to force
Nothing to want
- and everything happens by itself

- Lama Gendun Rinpoche
