About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Live life, in such a way, that I wont be disappointed in the things I never did
ABOUT ME
I grew up in Sitka, an island town in SE Alaska. My community had a population of 8,000 with a total of 14 miles of paved road. I spent most of my childhood on a boat in the ocean with my grandparents. I began exploring islands by myself on my grandpa's boat when I was 6. Other than short trips off the island to the lower 48 and exploration of Alaska by boat my first time off the island for an extended period of time was when I went off to college in Colorado. During that time I enjoyed the freedom and the luxury of driving to many amazing places in the West.
PHILOSOPHY
I like to live my life meeting new people, hearing about their thoughts and faiths and experiences. I'm non-judgmental and keep an open mind to all things.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I basically surfed on someones couch the 2nd year of college. We had 13 people cramped in a tiny place. Ask me about it, I have many stories. And my girlfriend, our dog and I Couchsurfed while we were exploring Europe in early 2014 - And now I look forward to repaying some of that Couchsurfing Karma and begin hosting those looking for a place to stay!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My girlfriend, Trisha, and I couchsurfed all through the Southern part of Europe during the winter of early 2014! We found hosters in Ireland, Croatia, Greece, Italy and Germany! It was great meeting and spending time with all of them, learning and observing the minute differences between their lives and my own, and even amongst themselves. Young and old, english speakers and non-english speakers, other travelers and homebodies. I loved the experience!
Interests
I hike, kayak, camp, just go on random boating trips, play with my dog, I enjoy traveling, I've gotten into low budget amateur photography, I enjoy experimenting with culinary techniques and combinations...
I used to work on a Fishing Tender, so being away from town for a week at a time, being in town only long enough to off load fish and gear back up became a custom -- Sometimes I long for that life again.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: I have a "huge" collection. When I pause from traveling around the world I'd love to share my collection with Couchsurfers. At least that's what I've been told more than a few times...
Music: A variety. I tend to go through short term obsessions. My current obsession is Alternative Folk. I play the guitar, bass guitar, tuba, sousaphone, baratone, stand-up bass, drums, and a little piano.
Books: I'm usually reading 7 at a time. I recently read the Gargoyle and really enjoyed it. Mystery is high on the list as well as historical fiction.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sitka in itself is an amazing place to see everyday. There are not many other places in the world that have the edge of the town on mountains that arise from the ocean while overlooking a volcano.
Our National parks in the west.
Shallow water crabbing in New Jersey.
River fishing in Florida.
Kayaking in Georgia.
Getting chased by a grizzly bear in Sitka.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you about boats and the ocean. I've once built a boat... Maybe you'll need to know how to do that? ;-)
Countries I’ve Visited
