One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Flew to the Philippines after the super typhoon hit in November 2013. Funded my own trip, went without any company, and assisted in relief operations for a month.

Teach, Learn, Share

In my opinion, this life is a canvas upon which we are always painting. It may begin with bright, vibrant colors, broad strokes, and slowly change into an amorphous, surrealistic design. As we grow older, the colors become gentle pastels, the brush strokes soften, and the vibrant layers underneath add a beautiful texture to complete a stunning masterpiece.

I also think about life like this: If I eat flour, will it be enjoyable? How about raw eggs? Baking powder? The answer is, absolutely not! However, when I mix them all together, and bake them up in my own special way, with some practice, intuition, and a bit of knowledge I've gained from others, they will make for an absolutely delicious cake. (There can be variations of every bit of the process to the baking, including baking time, baking temperature, amount of ingredients, new ingredients, etc.) That cake is life, with all of it's bitterness and awkward textures combining into a perfect treat.

To take it one step further, eating that cake whole will not satisfy us. In fact, it will only bring a moment of fleeting pleasure, followed by a nasty stomach ache. For those of us who seek everlasting joy as opposed to pleasure, however, will find ourselves whistling, smiling, laughing, and enjoying every moment of making the cake. Even better, we will try a taste, find a sense of accomplishment in our work, and share the rest with someone who really needs some cake!

What I Can Share with Hosts
