About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Take advantage of every opportunity presented and live life as fearlessly and courageous as possible.
ABOUT ME
I'm a 23 year-old lab assistant at UC Berkeley and studied politics and ecology/environmental science while in college. I'm originally from the central valley of California (Bakersfield), however I've been calling the Bay Area (east-bay) my home for 4 years now- living in both Berkeley and Oakland. I'm laid back and an easy-going chiller so I try to live as happy and stress free as possible (although Cal sometimes challenges me with this). I really enjoy drinking beer and having interesting conversations about lots of subjects. I'm constantly checking out great shows in the bay and frequent the local record stores quite often. I also thoroughly enjoy my kitchen where I spend a significant amount of my time concocting delectable treats and delicious meals. If I'm not spending time with either of those loves, then I'm probably outdoors--biking, hiking, basking in the sun and reading a classic fiction novel, or hanging out with my tree and human friends :)
I live for adventure and life experiences to tell and awe my future grandkids, so I thoroughly enjoy traveling, meeting new individuals, and achieving a level of personal growth from each experience.
My personal philosophy is that we all have something to learn from EVERYONE, regardless of age/sex/nationality/social status/sexual preference/affluence ,etc, because we all have different life experiences that define who we are and give us our unique perspectives on life; exactly what couchsurfing is all about, which really draws me to this community.
I recently began couchsurfing in 2011 and my life has forever been changed by the phenomenon of generosity and hospitality that I forgot existed in human society; needless to say, I'm really excited to participate and give back to people all the love, generosity, life experiences I have to offer. And equally excited to embrace all that others have to offer!
PHILOSOPHY
Though the flesh may be bugged, let the mind be aware that the circumstances of existence are pretty glorious.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a sucker for classic fiction novels (i.e. Crime and Punishment-Dostoevsky, Unbearable Lightness of Being- Kundera, Rebecca- DuMaurier, Brave New World- Huxley).
And I enjoy most music, from Beethoven, Bach, and Thcaikovsky to The Doors, Velvet Underground, and Kinks to Adele, Florence+ the Machine, Amy Winehouse. I love and appreciate it all! Ancient, modern, whatever- as long as it provokes something fantastic/whimsical/emotional in me.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I conducted ecology research on the beautiful tropical island of Mo'orea, French Polynesia for a semester where I bushwhacked my own hiking trails with a machete, rock climbed, and snorkeled on an everyday basis for 2 1/2 months. I'd love to share pictures and interesting stories about that experience.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a beginning knitter, but I can show you what I do know.
I'm a geek when it comes to the music scene and can probably talk your head off for days about my favorite bands, venues, festivals, and shows I've gone to.
I can also teach you how to dance that will surely get you laughed at...let's hear it for two left feet!
