CURRENT MISSION

My girlfriend and I are currently on a 4 month road trip around the U.S. We started at the beginning of September and will be on the road until mid-December. Our goal is to hit all 48 contiguous states. We've couchsurfed for most of our nights on the trip so far, mainly staying with connections from friends and family or local roller derby leagues. It has been great to meet so many new people!

ABOUT ME

I did my first cycling trip during the summer of 2014 when I biked from Vancouver, BC to Portland, OR, where I decided to move shortly thereafter. In May/June of 2015, I cycled from Belfast to Dublin via the western coast of Ireland and then spent some time in London and Edinburgh. I met many great people on those trips and made many great memories. Looking forward to doing more trips in the future!

PHILOSOPHY

"There's a million things I haven't done, but just you wait." Basically, I have done quite a bit in my life so far, but I know that there is so much more out there to do and learn and I want to do it all.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've couchsurfed quite a bit throughout my travels. I haven't had a chance to host anyone off of the site, but I've often hosted friends of friends who were traveling through town.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

On my bike trips, I stayed with several Warmshowers and Couchsurfing hosts and have had great experiences. I look forward to meeting more people on my adventures and being able to host some folks as well.

Interests

Being outdoors, roller derby, skateboarding, rugby, soccer, hiking--generally just being active. Also, reading and Netflix for when I decide to take a break from being active.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I am a die hard Harry Potter fan. I'm generally just a fan of reading, but don't read nearly as much as I'd like to. If you have any book recommendations, I'll gladly take them.

Movies: Thelma and Louise, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Harold and Maude, A League of Their Own, almost anything with Geena Davis in it, Harry Potter, Titanic (no shame).

TV: Scrubs, 30 Rock, Commander in Chief, OITNB, Nurse Jackie, The Simpsons, The Golden Girls, The Sarah Silverman Program

Music: Right now I am really in to Frank Turner and Brandi Carlile.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's hard to choose just one!

Both my bike trips have been pretty amazing. I think the moment that sticks out the most to me was finding myself riding alone through the eerily beautiful Doo Lough Pass in Ireland and really getting to take in the surroundings on a very visceral level.

This road trip has been an awesome compilation of many amazing moments of all sizes that makes it really special. We started out the trip with a 300 foot bungee jump in Bend, OR, which was one of the most incredible experiences I've ever had.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a skateboarder, rugby player, and roller derby player. I can teach you some tricks or explain how to play rugby and derby. No specific things I want to learn, but I am open to anything others have to teach.
