About Me

My name is Brantley.
I am a fun loving person that enjoys meeting new people and creating memories. I love to travel and make new friends. I like learning about different cultures and seeing hidden gems that only a local would know about. Always down for an adventure and I love to have fun. I think it is important to treat others with respect and follow the principles of the golden rule.

The majority of my occupational experience has been in the powerline construction industry. In addition, I am a raft guide on multiple rivers including the world famous Gauley river in West Virginia. It’s a river with more than 53 rapids, 15 of which are class V!
I am also an SSI certified divemaster and I have spent quite some time in the Caribbean diving! I love my life and everyday is the better than the last!

On 10/08/2019 I fulfilled a lifetime goal of hiking the entire Appalachian trail. It was during this time I stayed with my first couchsurfing hosts and had wonderful experiences. I hope to share these type of experiences with others in the future!

****I am currently planning a Colorado trail thruhike and am in great need of a host that will allow me to park my car for an extended amount of time in Durango, CO. I can offer some compensation for the price of mind to know our vehicle is safe. *****

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I absolutely love the opportunity to make valuable connections with people that I would never meet by staying at a hotel, B&B or hostel. It is an honor to be accepted into someone else’s personal space. I believe that couch surfing is a wonderful privilege and gift to be cherished. This is something that I’m very conscious of, appreciate and respect. I understand that every host has different boundaries that are to be respected. With that said I will respect and treat your home and its belongings as my own being a convenience instead of an inconvenience. It’s your space/your rules and I’m a guest who is privileged to partake in it! I was raised with the value of leaving something better than you found it. There is an inexplicable beauty in traveling that is life enhancing to anyone blessed to experience it! People are a major part of this experience. The diversity of cultures is one of the crowned jewels this world has to offer. It’s very rewarding to find the beauty that lies inherent in every culture no matter how different it may seem. In most cases what initially seem to be differences are actually just uniquely beautiful branches of the same tree. In short many of our differences are actually similarities that can give us a deeper appreciation for each other. In our differences lie our valuable perspectives that contribute to the wonderful tapestry that is humanity! I’m on couch surfing to get the most out of my experiences while traveling. My goal is to contribute to your home and leave each of my host with positive feelings about our awesome time together.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have an eclectic taste in music. My favorite is reggae. I like rock, hiphop and anything that sounds good at the time.

I’ve seen so many movies its really hard to pick just one, but I always like a good suspense or action movie.

When it comes to books, I often just read non fiction with topics I’m interested at the time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On 8-OCT-2019 I finished hiking the 2192 miles from Georgia to Maine. It was the most amazing experience I've ever had in my life! It was something that I had planned to do for years and when I finally achieved what I set out to do the feeling was incredible. I stayed with a few couchsurfing hosts and it was a good experience.
