Hola! This a shared profile between myself (Brayden, 30) and my partner, Akala (28) 💑

We are both Aussies who live in Perth, Western Australia. Akala is a veterinarian who works with mostly cats and dogs, and the occasional rabbit and bird! She also works with our beautiful unique Aussie wildlife. I myself am a Marine Biologist, having worked many intriguing jobs in beautiful locations, most recently working in kelp restoration and science.

Together we are involved in the flow arts, festival, and bouldering/climbing communities locally and would love to connect with the community abroad!

We're both adventurous, easy-going and fun folk who love to explore nature, move our bodies, make new friends and lasting memories in our lives!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We've joined Couchsurfing as a way to meet and have fun with locals whilst travelling. We want to sink into cultures and experience life through the eyes of locals, whilst sharing what we have to offer.

Music, Movies, and Books

Brayden:
Currently in a melodic techno phase, although in recent years I have really enjoyed indie rock. I enjoy science-fiction, particular that which is mysterious or mind-bending, hence Westworld is my favourite series. My favorite book is the audio version of Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality, narrated by Jack Voraces.

Akala:
I enjoy chilling out to indie rock, folk/acoustic and dub tunes. I also enjoy a wide range of electronic music, a list too long to list! You will never hear us playing pop, but I do love the 80's classics!
I enjoy reading anything that broadens my understanding of the natural world and the human experience. I mostly read to learn! Particular interests are literature about animals, psychedelics/consciousness, physics, and health. May favourite movie of all time is The Fifth Element!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Brayden:
I lived on a tiny island in Cambodia for a year, working on a marine conservation project. We used to go out at night on the boat and chase down illegal trawlers, sometimes it got pretty intense!

Akala:
I've just spent the last year performing at festivals and local city events, and volunteering at a wildlife hospital. I rescued a Cormorant (seabird) that had swallowed a fish hook and sinker, by removing it from it's stomach without surgery! A very lucky bird!

Teach, Learn, Share

We're happy to teach many of our interests, including hula-hoop, yoga, bodyweight workouts, skateboarding, and fun facts about animals and the ocean. We enjoy a deep conversations where we can share and receive knowledge too, we consume a lot of books / podcasts!
Hopefully by the time you are reading this, we can teach a few card games and Brayden can teach contact juggling!
