About Me

CURRENT MISSION

plan the next greatest adventure of my life

ABOUT ME

Growing up I was 'infected' with the traveling bug from day one and spent the first years of my life moving from one place to another and finally settling down in North Carolina where I finished school and went to college at North Carolina State University. Well I just graduated from there and after being stuck behind books and a computer for the past few years its time for me to stretch my legs a bit! I'm a pretty easy going person and am always up for some sort adventure or new experience. Right now I'm focusing on downsizing and realizing what is truly most important in my life and what I want to do with it. Some of the things I enjoy most are live music and chatting with friends by a campfire on a clear night. Life after graduation is uncertain and I don't know where I will end up next but I'm pretty excited to get there!

PHILOSOPHY

Pretty much sums it up! :

To live content with small means, to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion, to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich, to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly, to listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart, to bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await occasions, hurry never, in a word to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common, this is to be my symphony.
- Channing

So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosting when I've available and surfing when I can. CS is an awesome concept that I wish I knew of years ago before I found it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I don't remember how I found CS but one day I decided to go to DC on a whim for an adventure and to see the pre-release of Into the Wild (this was during one fall break when all my friends peaced out for 4-day camping and sailing trips and I had to work so I was pretty bummed). After the movie I didn't have a place to stay, luckily Nick really came through and showed me what CS was really about! Since then I've hosted several people in Raleigh and surfed in Atlanta, Montreal, Lexington, Nashville, and Toronto. Hopefully I'll be out surfing somewhere soon!

Interests

I like to anything outdoors. Especially backpacking and camping when I can get away for a few days. Jumping off waterfalls, finding swimming holes, canoeing. Few things are better than sitting around a campfire. Do-it-yourself projects, my aquariums. I also like to throw frisbee and play racquetball, go on road trips, see live music, hang out with friends, and go rock climbing when I can. Music festivals are lots of fun too. Recently I've discovered the fun and rewards of brewing my own beer. I'm always up for something different and for exciting adventures!
