ABOUT ME

I'm a playwright from Greenwich Village, NYC. I play soccer, watch basketball, read philosophy and tragedy, and release satirical raps under the moniker 'Gorgeous Marlo'. Be my friend:

PHILOSOPHY

My candle burns at both ends
and it will not last the night
but oh my foes and ah my friends
it gives a lovely light.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host when I can, I surf when I travel - I tell everybody I know that CS is the best and only cowards and fools don't do it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed in Italy, which was like stumbling from the arms of one amazing person to the next. In America the journey continued, as I surfed from New Orleans all the way up to New Hampshire. Then I gave back, and hosted cats at home in NYC for a little while, all Germans and all great. We couch surfers are the coolest.

Interests

Me: Football.
Them: Oi, you're an American, do you mean American football or Soccer?
Me: (Sigh) Soccer.

Music, Movies, and Books

Wall-E. They say it was a kid's movie but it's not.
a lot of other stuff - Greek philosophy, the novels of Graham Greene and Umberto Eco, the music of Bartok and Bowie and all those wild bebop cats.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a year in Ghana before I went to college, Every day felt like an adventure there; back home, and when I got home, I found that I felt an energy between people that I hadn't known before. I have great friends in Ghana - one of them even named his kid after me - and I hope to visit them soon.
Another great trip I took was to Cuba, where I studied for a semester. Its a fascinating place, an unholy mix of stiff, sexless, state-sponsored propaganda and the sensual rhythms of salsa. I don't pretend to understand the place, but I had a great time and can't wait to go back and hone my stuttering salsa step.
