I'm originally from California, and spent most of my life there, but most recently my work brought me to Washington, DC, where I lived for the past year making tons of new friends, including many in the CS community. Like many people in DC, I work at a nonprofit researching public policy issues. Also like many people here, I like biking, hiking, reading, and writing, and looking at more buzzfeed articles than seems okay to admit. I have a daily Ashtanga yoga practice, and would be happy to share what I know.

Outside of the official CS website, I've hosted travelers from Switzerland, Lithuania, and Australia. When I leave for Europe in September, I'll be looking to do a mix of couchsurfing, hostel sleeping, AirBNBing, back country camping, WWOOFING--you name it!

A random and non-scientific sampling of music I like: Ella Fitzgerald, Benny Goodman, Girl in a Coma, Beatles songs sung by anyone but the Beatles, Kate Nash, The Strokes, Kimya Dawson, The Specials, Op Ivy, The Zutons, Amy Winehouse.

I generally prefer books written by women, and my favorite author is Toni Morrison. Go read The Bluest Eye!
