About Me

I am a 28 year old student moving to New York to study Psychology at Columbia University. I studied Psychology in Texas, Anthropology at Oxford, currently living in Taiwan teaching English on a Fulbright grant and I am ready to continue falling in love with New York City. I am coming to the city for a summer intensive course at Columbia and I am looking to meet and stay with new friends along the way! I love reading, food, meeting fascinating people different from me, listening to stories, and engaging in delightfully unexpected experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This community is one of the most unique concepts I have ever heard of. The sacrifice of time and free gift of friendship is one more thing making this world a beautiful place to live in.

Interests

Walking down the wine isle at HEB, feminism, the LGBTQ community, sweating my pores off during hot yoga, the 6 degrees of separation theory, Murphy's Law, merry-go-rounds, the effects personal enlightenment due to hallucinogens, directionless ramblings in England, tattoos, veganism, vegetarianism, the art of juicing, the reformation of education in public schools, the concept of "The Man," the precision of grammar, the immensity of the color white, espresso theory, breaking away from the Christian mold, deforestation, all things counter culture, connecting with the people around me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Escaped a pack of kids fighting each other for one strawberry jolly rancher I had in my hand in Malawi. There was bloodshed.

Hiked partially naked up an unmarked path through three feet of snow in a blizzard in the Austrian Alps.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a deep fascination with the human experience. I am passionate about worlds outside my own, people I can learn from. This world is filled with miniature wonders and stories to hear. I am eager to collect as many experiences as I can.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A healthy meal, an open mind, a thirst for adventure, but also a contentment with quiet.
