About Me

ADVENTURE!
That simple word is my philosophy, and it has made life a wonderful thing.

And:

GET LOST ON PURPOSE
This has also been my philosophy for adventure. So far, it has yielded amazing things.
I won't know where I am, where I'm going. I have stumbled upon castles, cathedrals, coffee shops. Volleyball games, bonfires, and people who want to discuss international culture for hours.
Long winding alleyways are rich with life and history, and I can't get enough.

I'm Bree!

I'm really excited to see the world. It has been a dream of mine for years, and I finally have been able to make it happen. There is just so much history to learn and rich culture to be part of.

I would love to hang out with you and get to know you and your city. I believe that traveling is about meeting people and making friends! Let's go out and make some awesome memories.

ABOUT ME:
I'm a very talkative, energetic, and enthusiastic individual. Be prepared for me to talk your ear off, and make terrible attempts at new languages.
I also make bad puns, beware.

Since 2015, I've been working as a volunteer trail worker in different parts of the United States. What that means is, I build and repair hiking trails in the forest. I also participate in various conservation efforts, such as removing invasive species and wildfire prevention. That job has taught me to be extremely environmentally conscious, and passionate about green alternatives.

Reduce, reuse, recycle, repeat!

I am a huge outdoor activities enthusiast as well. I got into backpacking in 2015. There's something awesome about working your butt off to get to the top of a mountain, and seeing an amazing, breathtaking, gorgeous view. All that outdoorsy backpacking has led me to start rock climbing. I quickly became a children's indoor rock climbing instructor. I'm still new to the sport, and am still fighting to improve my skill and get stronger.

I'm also an artist. I love to draw with pencils, and I'm currently learning how to work with watercolors. I'm also learning how to draw digitally.

Poetry has recently captured my heart. Robert W. Service and E.E. Cummings are my current favorites.

POETRY:
There's sunshine in the heart of me,
My blood sings in the breeze;
The mountains are a part of me,
I'm fellow to the trees.
My golden youth I'm squandering,
Sun-libertine am I;
A-wandering, a-wandering,
Until the day I die.
-Robert W. Service

FOR HOSTS:
I keep things tidy and don't take up a lot of space. When couch surfing, I will be as respectful as possible, and thankful for the time and space you have gifted me.
I love being part of the couch surfing community, and I don't plan to use you as a free hostel. If you would like to meet up before I stay with you, I am definitely up for that!

ALSO!
I have a bad habit of sleeping in and staying up late. If that is an issue, (for example you work in the morning and do not want me in your home alone) let me know and I will move along.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet new people and see the world. I think that couch surfing is one of the best ways to do that without breaking the bank.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books:
I am currently reading Paulo Coelho's The Pilgrimage. Oh man, that book has taken me on a trip already.
I also enjoy children's fantasy books. As I've gotten older, it has become a guilty pleasure, but I try to embrace it! Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Hunger Games. You name it.

Movies:
I just saw Endgame! I love superhero movies. I also enjoy documentaries, Disney, Starwars. Pretty much anything that isn't a scary movie! I am kind of behind on recent movie releases though, because going to the movie theater is just too expensive. It's also difficult for me to sit down and watch a full feature length film, because I don't really have the patience to do so. Unless I'm with friends, of course, then I make exceptions.

TV: (Netflix)
Sit-coms are my jam.
Currently watching Brooklyn 99. Parks and Rec, Sherlock, Doctor Who, How I Met Your Mother, New Girl, Crazy Ex Girlfriend, The Good Place, That 70s Show

Music:
Alternative, alternative, aternative. Indie, folk, rock, classic. Can't do country, pop, or electronic. But some songs are the exception! Every genre has a right to be heard and respected, woo.
Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Modest Mouse, Walk the Moon, The Mowgli's, The Postal Service, Neutral Milk Hotel, Arcade Fire, The Shins, The Decemberists, Neon Trees, Young the Giant, Hippo Campus, Grouplove, New Politics, Dear and the Headlights, Manchester Orchestra, Cold War Kids, Passion Pit, The Strumbellas, Shakey Graves, Of Monsters and Men, Yellowcard, Scouting for Girls, Matchbox Twently, Green Day, Muse, Vampire Weekend, Bombay Bicycle Club, Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, Foster the People, Gorillaz, Jimmy Eat World, Kings of Leon, Miike Snow, Red Hot Chili Peppers, All-American Rejects

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked the tallest mountain in New Hampshire, USA.
Lived in the woods for seven summers.
Can eat wasabi but can't eat spicy food.
Seen a moose or two, met a few bears.
